“A lot of stories are still being recounted of long journeys of people from various language groups.”
Ikuntji Artists is an Indigenous owned and run art centre located at Haasts Bluff, 230km west of Alice Springs in the West Macdonnell Ranges. It was first established in 1992, with some of the artists' family members being the first acrylic painters at Papunya in the 1970s. The art centre has been operating ever since. Ikuntji Artists are particularly renowned for their use of bold and vibrant colours. Connections to Dreaming (Tjukurrpa) and country (ngurra) are expressed through the artists' personal unique signature styles. Ikuntji Artists show nationally and internationally in a variety of galleries. Visit the studio space and meet the artists at the art centre!
