Nestled in tranquil natural bushland setting, Cranky Rock Nature Reserve features a fascinating jumble of granite boulders balanced at the edges of Reedy Creek. Cranky Rock offers a picturesque location for a picnic, camping, hiking and enjoying the scenery and wildlife. An observation platform has been installed a short hike from the picnic area and is the perfect location for surveying and photographing the area. An natural waterhole formed by Reedy Creek at the base of the boulders provides an excellent place to cool off in the summer months and watch for native birds. The reserve features a picnic area with free gas barbecues, large picnic shelter, a children's playground and a kiosk. There are public toilets and ample parking for vehicles and coaches. Powered and unpowered campsites available, fees apply. Cranky Rock is located eight kilometres east of Warialda on the Gwydir Highway. Entry to the reserve is free.
