Muru Mittigar Aboriginal Cultural Centre tells the story of the Darug people, the traditional owners of the area. Muru Mittigar has an Aboriginal Cultural Museum showing Aboriginal history; Retail Art Centre featuring fine arts and crafts by Aboriginal artists; Nature walks with native plants traditionally used by Aboriginal people for medicinal, food or material resources. Visitors learn about local tribal areas, the diversity of Aboriginal culture and the local Darug tribe. The cultural centre offers the opportunity to view Aboriginal art and many traditional artefacts, including observing in-house artists painting, making didgeridoos and weapons. For groups of 20 or more, dance performances, painting workshops and bush-tucker meal tastings with traditional foods are available but must be pre-booked.
