The Mount Victoria and District Historical Society museum has in its sixteen rooms an amazing collection of Australiana, spanning the era from the early explorers and convicts to more recent times. There are examples of early farming tools and dairy utensils, natural history, laundry and kitchenware, the local mining industry, early photographic equipment and musical instruments. Furniture and furnishings are also on view, The Railway Refreshment Room tableware is on display, as well as a schoolroom and clothing from the 19th century. Local history publications and souvenirs are available for purchase. The grand 1858 sandstone railway station (still in use), in which the collection is housed, is in itself worth a visit, as a reminder of the days of steam train travel. There is something of interest for everyone.
