Australia’s biggest open garden, Mayfield at Oberon, is now open daily for the first time with the gifts from the 36-acre property curated for a new visitor experience. Since re-launching in April 2017, the world famous European-inspired garden has become a magical backdrop for ‘farm to folk’ dining, bespoke workshops, yoga retreats, luxe seasonal festivals and weddings. Visitors are encouraged to forage and eat from the three-acre Kitchen Garden and enjoy the real flavours of natural food at the Mayfield Café and Produce Store where 80% of the menu is sourced fresh from the property. Meet up with the savvy ‘Mayfielders’ and find out their garden secrets as you walk, join a guided tour, or catch a mini bus to see the six-acre Water Garden with its enormous obelisk and water lilies propagated from Claude Monet’s Garden in Giverny. You can also sit inside a grotto behind a cascading waterfall, row across a vast lake, play croquet, visit the new museum, picnic beside the Valley of Five Ponds, and take home a your own piece of Mayfield from the Garden Centre. Mayfield is a two hour fifty minute drive from Sydney.
