Original Backpackers Sydney

The Original Backpackers is a beautiful Victorian building that was converted into backpacker accommodation in 1980. At that time, there were Youth Hostels, but the term “backpackers” was introduced by the original owners of the Original Backpackers. We reckon that makes us the very first backpackers in the world.In those days, you could not make a reservation – you just turned up at the door and hoped you got a bed. We have made many improvements over the years but still offer the same warm welcome that we did back in 1980.
