South Solitary Island is located approximate 18km offshore from Coffs Harbour, New South Wales. The island consists of a lighthouse and keeper's quarter's which were built in 1880 and considered the oldest in the area. The island was abandoned in 1975 when the lighthouse was automated with all residents leaving the island at that time. Access is restricted to the public and visitation is only possible by helicopter when tours are run by Precision Helicopters and National Parks and Wildlife.
