Old Courthouse Alice Springs

The Old Courthouse is a single-storey building designed specifically for arid conditions with a central masonry core of rooms, constructed of hand-made sand and cement blocks (patterned to resemble stonework), and surrounding verandahs with low blockwork walls along the outside perimeter. The "Old Courthouse" is highly valued by all the community for not only does it represent a tangible reminder of the past but it is for many, the location where decisions were made or actions taken which directly affected their life, whether it be for better or worse.
