American Fossil

American Fossil is a private fossil quarry open to the public, 11 miles north of Kemmerer, WY. American Fossil was started by three school teachers who wanted to share the world class fossils resources of Wyoming with children and families. We are the only quarry in the Green River Formation that allows guests to keep everything they find. All other quarries take the rare and valuable fossils from guests. We also provide the best service with unlimited free fossil cutting, 4 full time employees that are there to guide and help guests. We provide free use of all needed top quality tools, and will even package and ship fossils for no up-charge, we only charge the $18.85 the USPO charges us to ship large flat rate boxes. We have almost unlimited free dry camping on site or on the adjacent public land. We do allow people to camp right in the quarry. The road into the quarry is passable by medium RVs and bumper pull trailers. Large motor homes should park above the quarry and access us by car or on foot.
