We had a terrible check-in experience here. The Xanterra employee didn't realize he was supposed to give us a separate spot for our truck, so when we returned to the office to tell him we didn't fit in our spot he told us to go look at 2 other spots to see if either of those would work for us.
We picked one, unhitched and Brian went back to the office. In the time it took to do that, they gave the site to another camper who were very unhappy to see me sitting in their spot.
They leave to go back to the office, when a Xanterra employee speeds up to our spot and he starts yelling at me for being in the spot.
Long story short, they're untrained and unorganized. Once the campsite situation was worked out, we had a fine stay.

This is my favorite place to stay in Yellowstone. Just like the other no-hookup campgrounds, it's wooded and serene. The difference here is you can wander through the woods and then right down to the lake, where the view is simply breathtaking. The shower facility is well-maintained, and there's a nice laundry that's easy to swing by on the way in or out. Also, you're in easy striking distance of Old Faithful and Lake Village.
We are a family of four traveling in a 33-foot motorhome. Here's what we're looking for: A playground, stuff for the kids to do, somewhere to ride my mountain bike, beautiful scenery, fire rings, plenty of separation between us and neighbors, shaded and private sites, easy to get in and get level, electric hookups, water and dump station on site, clean showers, and not terribly expensive.
From that list, we got most of them. It could have earned the fifth star with a playground and electric hookups. The scenery was truly amazing, and of course the location is unbeatable.

Ok national park campground near the lake but our site was very small, under power lines and across from the bathrooms so we would like to have had a different site. The staff at the check in station had no clue about the campground.

This campground is another template of the villages and campgrounds throughout Yellowstone. All have the same general stores with the same groceries and souvenirs, the same gas stations, and the same campgrounds. They are all nicely done with architecture that blends in with the forest surroundings and provide amenities to make the stay comfortable and a good experience.
Grant campground and village closes mid-September, so we chose it in part because it would be open while we were there. It also backs up to Yellowstone Lake and there is a beautiful walking trail that winds at the edge of the campground along the lake. There is also a well-appointed visitor center with friendly and helpful rangers.
The campground itself is a pretty typically campground with close spaces that have a few tall pines for separation. Each site is complete with a picnic bench and fire pit. There are no hook-ups, but there is a dump station with potable water at the exit.
This was a great spot to camp in the middle of the park and we enjoyed our time here.

Generally a great campground with great amneties...most sites are fairly level if a little cramped....only complaint are the mosquitoes but that can't be avoided since the site is on Yellowstone Lake

Actual stay August 22, 3 nights. Price is $29, with senior pass we paid $14.50 per night. Our 29 ft travel trailer was a tight fit. The campsite has a fire pit and picnic table. The campground has a dump station and potable water near the check in area. No hookups, dry camping. 2 showers were included each night stay. Laundry facilities are near by. Forget about fishing in Yellowstone, regulations are rigid and not worth the hassle.

I had a tight spot for my T@b and it was a tricky site to back into because of the angle, but it worked.
What I liked:
- Quiet campground
- Close to lakeshore
- Reservable and many sites
- Showers, laundry, general store, gas stations, including LP refill
What could have been better:
- Too many campfires made it smell like a forest fire
- Tight site, difficult back in angle
- Not much of a view
- Bathrooms need more frequent cleaning when at capacity

The wife and I decided to take a last minute vacation to yellowstone. Called for a reservation the day before we were going to leave, grant was the only place she was able to get us, but for Sunday, Monday then Wednesday and Thursday, so we would have had to pack it up and leave for one day. When checking in I asked if there wss anyway I can get a spot for Tuesday night and with a few punches on the computer the manager said your all set up for 5 nights in the same site. Then he said that he will apply our second deposit we made towards the bill, we pulled our camper in and it was right next to the lake with a beautiful view, great service, clean campground, will stay there again🤗

This was a packed national park campground that we would not stay at again. Considering we had just been boondocking with a few other people for two weeks, this was a huge shock to the system. We considered going to find a boondocking site outside of the park but didn't want to forfeit our reservation fees we had already paid. Yellowstone is so large that driving into the park wouldn't really have made a big difference from staying inside it.
There are huge loops with many sites per loop. You have no privacy and are surrounded by loud neighbors. The air was filled with smoke from the countless campfires that burned most of the night. Granted, we were there in peak season.
There are amenities that were nice, a dish washing station, gas station and general store, right down the street.
I wouldn't stay here again just because this is not my idea of rving.
