“discover the Sandhill crane migration”
The Center is a non-profit organization that operates year-round. We are solely supported by sponsorships, contributions, grants and program fees. We seek to tell our story to a diverse audience of all ages from Nebraska, the nation and around the world to increase awareness and apprciation of the Platte river ecosystem.
Short scenic drive around the lake and only 2 min off highway but not much to see without cranes.
The staff in the Visitors Center were very nice and helpful. Unfortunately the cranes were not there during our visit and the buffalo were no where to be seen but the trail to the outlook was a nice way to stretch our legs.
Right off of I-80, this is a great place to take a break and learn a little about cranes. Up to five miles of meadow and river walking trails. We enjoyed stretching out legs here. The visitor center personnel are helpful and ever so friendly
