Seven Tubs Recreation Area is a publicly accessible recreation area located in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, and owned by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.
You can sit in a picturesque pool, walk through the chilled creeks, or zip down the natural water slides. Hidden among protective trees, Seven Tubs Natural Area also shelters such wildlife as opossums, deer, and foxes. A hiking trail will also take you over a charming bridge and past several small waterfalls.
The natural environment was beautiful. Lush green moss, cascading water, and a miniature gorge. The issue? People. Tons of them on a Monday afternoon with a good bit of alcohol consumption and marijuana smoking. We wanted to go there to see the and experience the pools, to hear the rushing water and feel the coolness amongst the trees. Instead, it was a 5 min stay to get away from the chaos. DCNR needs a stronger presence in such a heavily used and eroded area.
Hidden gem ! More than expected , would give more stars !
Stopped on trip to upstate NY 1000 island area for lunch and to let kids stretch ! Beautiful trails the “tubs” natural pools along the creek small waterfalls , interesting easy hike , doesn’t get monotonous .Went with kids 12 ,9 3 , easy trails . Bring camera beautiful , well maintained and clean . Park rangers were on hand so felt organized . Most people masked and practiced social distance etiquette . Definitely would be back .
This is one of my favorite stops I made while travelling through Pennsylvania. It is free, there are restrooms available, the scenery is amazing, and it is so serene. We stopped and checked out a couple of the pools and tried out the water slides.
We were there at 9am on a Monday in July and the water wasn't too cold, crisp, but refreshing. There was someone walking through and picking up trash, so the area is very well maintained. The water in the tubs we visited isn't too deep either, so a great place to let kids burn off some energy and play in nature.
Many fantastic views, make sure to go down the water slides!
