“near the mouth of Wages Creek”
Westport Beach RV and Camping is set above the beach near the mouth of Wages Creek, with both creekside and beach sites available. The 30-acre campground has a quarter mile of beach frontage. You will notice as you venture north from Fort Bragg that the number of vacationers in the area falls way off, providing a chance for quiet beaches and serene moments. There are 75 sites with full hookups (20, 30, and 50 amps) for RVs of any length, 24 sites with no hookups for RVs of any length, 47 sites for tents only, and six group sites for tents or RVs (no hookups) that can accommodate 12–50 people each.

Confirmed by 5 users | Last reported on August 30, 2021All along the Pacific coast there are quite a few campgrounds next to the beach. Some of them even right up against the sand. There are however very few that allow true tent camping way out on the beach itself. Westport Beach RV Park & Campground is one of them. Grab a flag, stake out your spot on the sand, and the helpful staff will ATV your gear out to you so you can get set up. Pretty sweet.
RV's can get on the beach itself, but they do get all the prime beachfront sites. We enjoyed beachfront views and campfires for our entire stay. A beautiful thing.
The entire region is pretty spectacular too. Mendocino and Ft. Bragg are a short trek south, and if so inclined, you can also head north up into redwoods territory within a short 30 miles.
Cell phone is near-enough nonexistent, but the campground recently (June 2017) upgraded their entire wifi network, and there's a good strong (and free) signal throughout the entire campground.
We will most certainly return whenever we can.

Loved this RV park. Right on Highway 1 between Leggett and Ft. Bragg, this gem sits right on the coast. We arrived after hours when it was dark, something I wouldn't recommend as there are no lights down the winding road into the park nor throughout the campground. There are firepits at each site. Grounds were clean and well maintained, staff was friendly. Ocean views and sounds of the waves give this 5 stars plus!
One more note about getting there at night -- Hales Grove, a foresty area of Highway 1 off 101 at Leggett is a winding narrow road with 10-20 mph hairpin turns and was a little sketchy in our 28' Class A in the dark. Had I known I would have gone further south on 101 and took 20 to Ft. Bragg. Our lesson learned: travel in daylight, especially when going to remote areas.
If you're traveling South (or even if you aren't) check out David's Restaurant and Deli in Fort Bragg. Best. Breakfast. Ever. Very cool artwork, all for sale.

Beautiful beachside setting in a cove, large sites and some overlooking the ocean. The beach is wide and open, clean restrooms. Love camping to the sound of waves crashing on the shore. Town of Mendicino is a short drive away. Will be back!

This campground is awesome. The sites are jammed in but they have done a good job of different angles, large shrubs and fencing to give most sites some privacy or the feeling of privacy. It won’t matter because the beach is amazing and that’s where you will be. The beach is clean, wide open, some great rocks and a small creek that runs thru into the ocean. Perfect for toddler play. We also had a campfire on the beach to watch the sunset.
Tenters are on the beach and they even have a ATV that helps you get your gear on the beach. For beach view for RV try to get sites 142-145. Those are hands down AMAZING! Full hookup too
Drive here from Eureka was slow, long and full of white knuckles. Take your time and don’t do it at night.
Port a Potties on the beach needed a clean up and honey pot
Campground WiFi was decent. Worked better at certain times of day. Got the job done since we had no service with Verizon or att

Overall this park was nice and in a lovely location right on the beach which alone is worth the nightly fee. Staff were very friendly and helpful and we enjoyed our brief stay. The beach itself was awesome and is essentially for the use of park visitors.
As mentioned by another reviewer this RV park has direct access from Highway 1. If you are arriving after dark, relying on a cell based navi app may result in missing the turn into the park which is not lit up in anyway and is on a bend in the road. The steep road leading down to the campsite is very bumpy and needs to be graded to smooth it out.
We came down from Harris Beach State Park and the following comments from another reviewer cannot be understated . "One more note about getting there at night -- Hales Grove, a foresty area of Highway 1 off 101 at Leggett is a winding narrow road with 10-20 mph hairpin turns and was a little sketchy" "I would have gone further south on 101 and took 20 to Ft. Bragg. Our lesson learned: travel in daylight, especially when going to remote areas."
We had no cell service to speak of however the free wifi was very good and very much appreciated.

Great near beach camping.
Tight but good sites.
A bit overpriced and they still charge for showers.
Clean bathrooms.
No internet and no WiFi.
My only real issue is that management does not stop certain campers from flying full sized political flags.
Trumpers, multiple White Supremacist Boogaloo flags, confederate flags and AR-15 ‘come and try try and take it’ flags.

I’d give this place a 1 if it wasn’t for the beautiful beachfront views and access. Everything else about the place is subpar. There is absolutely no phone service, internet is worthless, the bathroom stalls are no bigger than an RV bathroom, the road is bumpy as hell, the sewer hookup is so tall that you can barely dump, the wind can be brutal and to top it off, the staff in the store love to bring up right wing misinformed conspiracy theories with no prompting. The only other saving grace is the local radio station at 95.3. Wonderful station.

Ridiculously expensive for very little.
Because they allow tent camping on the beach, it really takes away from the beauty to have tents strewn across the sand. Looks very trashy and unappealing.
Restrooms were kept very clean but had to pay for showers $1 for 3 1/4 minutes and the water pressure was barely existent.
No cell service and the free WiFi doesn’t work unless you are standing outside the camp store and even then there’s no internet.
Location is good but definitely don’t recommend for anything other than maybe a one night stopover.

We have been going here for 30 + years and there have been a lot of changes here and not all for the better, and this is my first review after staying there all these years. We stayed in space 169 which is a good space with a nice view of the ocean but there is a lot of foot and vehicle traffic that comes by.
One of my big dislikes are dog owners who can not control there dogs. Our yellow lab who was on a leash as is required was attacked twice by other dogs as we walked through the camp ground because the dogs were not correctly secured with a strong leash or someone was not holding on to the leash. Fortunately no serious injury to our docile lab but I was ready to gut one dog with my Bench made knife if the owner did not stop her damn dog so be ware when you go there about 85% of the spaces have dogs which is not a bad thing it's the owners of some breeds who have to bring their bad dogs and some day it's going to cost them big from a civil suit. The dog problem has only gotten worse with the pandemic because there are some many more people camping than any other time that we can recall so now that its the end of August were going back again in Sept. but not quite to the same space and there should be less people of a certain age bracket who bring these type of animals there but we will see.
The staff is great and they keep the place as nice as they can but it's certainly showing it's age with all the use its seen over the last two years for sure, but if you're looking for one of the best beach's around in a private campground this is it. It can be noisy and you're parked very close but this last trip it was not too bad but if you get a space in the back it's much quieter, but again they are very close together and that's just the way it is with FHU's. We have a 30ft travel trailer and we have no issues with getting in and backing into our space, but some big class A's can find it difficult. We come here for the nice ocean view and beach and we always meet some great people and make new friends and get new ideas for our next adventure.

This campground was good for what it is. My site was dirt and dead grass, so it got a little messy…but it’s camping. The highlight is the private beach (Wages Creek Beach) which was awesome. The playground was a hit for our daughter, too.
There was a major power failure one night, so power was out most of the following day. The staff had everything working again by the following night.
The road in can be challenging. I drove from the US101 on Branscomb Road. It was fine with a 30-foot trailer since I went really slow. The driveway into the campground could use some maintenance.
The campground wind beach were very clean. Staff were routinely cleaning up campsites and the beach.
I got pizza one night at the Westport Community Store about a mile away from the campground…it was good.
There was no AT&T service at my site. I found some service at the beach and up the hill near the campground entrance.
Overall, this was a fun trip. The campground was lively and got us near the beach.
