Czech gas station with delicious kolaches and fun trinkets. Always worth a visit! For many years, Czech Stop has been promoting that Czech Heritage spirit so popular in the small town of West, Texas. Whether serving the neighbors down the street or travelers off of I-35 we take great pride in providing every customer with complete satisfaction. We are open 24/7 our doors never close. This includes all major Holidays.
Cute Czech-style gas station, very convenient highway stop to stretch or grab some delicious-looking baked goods. Clean restroom, clean station, and they had polka playing which made me cheery. Would def stop there again for gas and a quick bite!
i was surprised at how crowded it was. the kolaches were delicious and everything else behind the counter looked so good.
Great food but really crowded.
Always a nice stop. I love the cinnamon candy. (It comes in a cup) The vanilla pound cake is like grandmas and you can’t go wrong with a cream cheese kolaches. Honestly not a fan of the traditional ones with meat, the sausage is weird to me.
Ask any Texan and they will tell you that, along IH-35 on the way to or from the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex, a visit to the Czech Stop is an absolute MUST. I have been making this particular drive since I have been old enough to drive, which is more years than I am willing to admit here! I'm not sure when exactly I "discovered" the Czech Stop myself, but every time I make that long drive up from San Antonio (home) I invariably find myself waiting diligently in a long line of fellow, like-minded travelers for my turn to order some of the delicious baked goods that are cooked up within. The go-to order inside this humble half convenience store/half bakery are the kolaches. Delicious, delicious kolaches. For those unfamiliar with these doughy bundles of pure happiness, kolaches an Eastern European delicacy brought by the Czechs who settled this part of Texas. They come in either sweet (think fruit and sweet cream cheese filled) or savory (bacon, eggs, sausage, cheese). Heated up, they are what the poets write about when they write about "joy." Cookies, breads, and other assorted baked goods are also offered and all are very well done. However, if you find yourself in North Central Texas, do yourself a favor and visit the Czech Stop. They have what your soul needs.
Don't let the crowd or the line scare you away!!!! I promise it is worth it to stop here. This is a MUST stop when driving on 35. Kolaches are amazing. The sausage rolls are to die for. Green Chili Sausage goes home with me every time I stop. They have humongous ham and cheese pockets. Ice cream is delicious. You can't go wrong with the food at the Czech Stop. You know you're from Texas when....
get the jalapeño cheddar biscuits. yum.
One of the best kolache stops in Texas!
Always worth the stop! Worth waiting in line for! The berry kolaches are the best around!
