Natural Wonder

Our Take

When visiting Glacier National Park, you (literally) can’t miss a drive along the mind-blowingly gorgeous Going-to-the-Sun Road. Built during the 1920s and ‘30s, the road snakes its way through the mountains of Glacier, providing epic views of the park’s snow-capped peaks and lush valleys. Make sure to double-check current conditions before visiting, since harsh weather regularly causes road closures throughout the park.

So far, we've been to Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, Arches, & now Glacier. I truly understand why the Kootenai & Blackfeet tribes consider this place sacred. The landscape carved by centuries of glacier activity here has left us with indescribable beauty! We spent a week here - stayed at Apgar Village, Lake McDonald Lodge & St. Mary's Lodge. I think my favorite was Lake McDonald Lodge. Don't miss taking a Red Bus tour - we took the Western Alpine Tour & loved it! We took a boat tour of Lake McDonald & the old wooden boat takes ya back in time & the views are incredible. We also took a Jeep tour with Blackfeet Outfitters into the back country to see Moose, Bear, etc. - the weather was rainy, and we only found wild horses and a lot of "free range" cattle, but our guide Alger tried very hard to find em! He made that tour for us memorable.
Don't fail to visit Many Glacier - best views of the remaining glaciers there. The hiking here is awesome & wild life is all around. This is definitely a "bucket list national park" in my opinion too!

If you take the Empire Builder Amtrak train, it goes right through this park and you get views inaccessible any other way. The train winds around the edge of the mountains at some points and it's impossible not to look up and the amazing beauty.

To me, this is America's most incredible National Park. Yeah, Yellowstone has its geysers, and Yosemite has El Capitan, but nothing compares to the raw scenery of Glacier. If you've never been here, and don't have it on your National Park bucket list, PUT IT ON THERE!

Oh my gosh, do it! The scenery the glacier water swimming, the wild life, all amazing! But camp inside the park! Our one regret is that we camped outside the park.

This is a bucket list National Park. If you haven't been, add it to your list. Gorgeous. A week isn't enough time to see all there is to see and do all there is to do. Drive the Going to the Sun Road. It will have its white knuckle moments but the views are absolutely worth it! Remember this park crosses over to our neighbor to the north (Canada). Be sure to check that side out too. Can't wait to go back!

This is one of the most incredible national parks in the entire system. Lake McDonald is amazing. The local fishing was awesome and hard to beat. Hikers paradise and the going to the Sun Road. Logan pass is an awesome place to see. Big horn sheep abound, moose, and other wild life. In July this place was a botanic garden you could hike through for hours!

By far one of the most impressive and gorgeous national parks I've had the good fortune to see in my life. The mountains are stunning, and the hiking is phenomenal. Swimming in a glacial lake during my time here is one of my favorite things I've ever done.

After spending the summer dealing with the heat and severe summer storms in Florida, I think I want to go here next summer.
