“Kampgrounds of America”
Set high up among wooded hills 28 miles south of Pittsburgh, the Washington/Pittsburgh SW KOA makes a fine stopover for both local and big-city attractions. Volleyball, horseshoes and a good-sized pool keep campers smiling. Wind along the countryside's rural highways, which snake over 23 covered bridges and lead to antique stores and flea markets. Visit a state treasure - Fallingwater, a house designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. Learn about 19th-century life at Meadowcroft Museum of Rural Life. Enjoy a game of chance at The Meadows Racetrack & Casino, with its slots and table games, about 5 miles from the campground. Pool: Memorial Weekend - Labor Day Weekend. Max pull thru: 88 feet. Your hosts: Rick, Sharon and Danielle

Getting to/from this campground from either interstate is a tricky drive, especially if you have a wide or long rig. Android maps will get you there, but you have to trust it. I strongly recommend not arriving after dark; roads are narrow, unlit, and very confusing. The approach road to the ridge, on the campground site, has a climbing switchback turn; it's signed "Maintain Speed Through The Turn", but be prepared.
Site amenities are pretty basic. Wifi is great during the day, but at night, when everyone tries to stream netflix, it gets pretty bad.
This was our first KOA, and their standards are pretty low. This is a bare hill by a road. There is one bathroom/shower house a walk away, junky but clean. The picnic table on our site was falling apart. There was trash in the makeshift firepit. There was a wash sink at the site that was filthy and did not work anyway. We have stayed at charming state and town parks for half the price.
The WiFi was very slow.

Expect a challenge to get here, GPS was even challenged. Very hilly. Gravel sites, narrow sites. Terraced on a long steep hill. Shared water, not every site has a picnic table, not every site capable of a table. Long walk downhill to office, pool, dumpster.
Next to Interstate 79 on a long hill and trucks constantly JAKE BRAKE on way down and extremely loud.

I'm not going to be quite as hard on this campground as other reviewers. Most of what they said is correct, but this is not a "destination type campground". If you are 50 feet (total length) or less and need to stop overnight in the area, this place is for you. It's right off two intersecting interstates, so you do hear traffic. The WIFI works but will only deliver SD video. AT&T streamed fine. Staff was very nice. Antenna TV reception is good (about 40 channels). Sites are pretty level and plenty of pull thru. GPS will take you to this KOA, but if you see the KOA signs, follow them for a little easier drive in. So, if you need full hookups and don't want to get very far off the interstate, its a nice campground.

We stayed overnight on our drive West- I read reviews and wasn’t sure and even arriving still wasn’t sure but this KOA is pretty great. Make sure and follow the KOA signs once in town, even then narrow streets to the campground. My only negative would be the rough road leading into the entrance. And yes there’s a pretty steep road going up to the actual sites from the check in (all sites are actually atop a hill (mountain?) and the turn left into the sites from the hill was kinda crazy. Towing a 38 ft 5th toy hauler and it was very doable but just a smidge tight on that incline/turn. All sites are on a hill but we had no problem leveling. Landscaping here though is probably better than most KOAs I’ve been to, the dog park was large and green (also better than most koas), the campground updated too! Again great landscaping in those areas. Minimal road noise. Staff was very nice. Didn’t use the internet so can’t speak to that but had no problem streaming Disney + using our Verizon data. Also cannot speak to the bathrooms. Would stay here again!
