“An awesome, eclectic restaurant!”
Roofers Union opened in 2014 under the direction of General Manager Daniel Lobsenz, a DC hospitality professional with several years of high-end restaurant experience under his belt. Prior to Roofers Union, Daniel worked as Assistant General Manger of BLT Steak where he hosted high profile clientele and developed his management skills. In 2007 Lobsenz developed a passion for wine and beverage while managing Poste Moderne Brasserie of Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants. An avid home brewer and wine explorer, Lobsenz has passed the first two levels of the Court of Master Sommeliers certification program and hopes to someday be a Master. Having traveled extensively through wine regions such as Champagne, Mosel, Douro, Rias Baixas, Napa, Sonoma, Willamette, and of course Virginia, Lobsenz has a deep, hands-on understanding of fine wine. Lobsenz was born the youngest of 6 in Connecticut and moved down to DC in 2002 to study Journalism and Criminal Justice at American University where he was also a member of the men’s wrestling team. He currently lives in DC with his fiancée, who also works in the hospitality industry. His hobbies include cooking, traveling, writing, film and of course food and wine.
