German-American Heritage Museum

  The USA has been shaped over the last 400 years by many cultures and ethnicities. Americans of German-speaking ancestry are the largest of these groups, with 1 in every 6 Americans being of German descent or having German-speaking roots. The reasons for German immigration into the early United States varied anywhere from politics, to religious freedom and the hope of economic gain. But the most common denominator that brought these people across the Atlantic was the dream of a better life in the United States of America. The German-American Heritage Foundation and Museum aims to highlight the history of our ancestors as well as the impact they and the coming generations of German-Americans had in shaping the USA. Today Germany is America’s greatest ally and transatlantic relations are growing. Our mission is to discover, preserve, promote, and educate about the impact of German-Americans as well as to highlight the political, cultural, and economic relations between our two countries.
