“Great place for a day trip or weekend camping adventure”
Colonial Creek is right next to more of a lake than a creek, so the name is a bit misleading. Nice, pretty clean bathrooms with flush toilets and sinks, but no showers. Great place for a day trip or weekend camping adventure. There are a number of short trails starting near the service center that take you either into the woods or along the river. We took the River Loop and it was a very easy walk. The trails are also connected if you want an extended hike.
I had an excellent camping experience at Colonial Creek. There was plenty of hiking within walking distance of my campsite, and I was able to get a spot right on the water.
