Highly recommended. Rent appropriate shoes and a walking stick from Zion Outfitters-right next to park entrance, and arrange for the private shuttle that picks up at Zion Outfitters:Red Rock. You can park free in parks visitor center parking if you get there early, park at back of the lot then walk over the bridge to Zion Outfitters. Pick up your gear the night before-they stay open till 9.
I just did the hike in late September-water was up to thigh high at highest. And its cold, at 65 degrees. Beautiful place.
Im 66 yrs old with a bad left knee but this place was so tempting that I rented proper footwear and equipped ourselves with plenty of water and lunch. Man! What knee pain? Did the trek and will do so again.
