“Dinosaur bones and Tracks in the rocks”
The Mill Canyon Dinosaur Tracksite is a short walk with interpretive panels along the trail and boardwalk. Each panel describes unique dinosaur tracks that can be seen at this site, including 8 different types of dinosaurs, along with a crocodile resting trace.
This was probably one of my favorite stops during our road trip. It doesn’t seem well known...it’s located off a side road and then turns to a rocky dirt road the rest of the way. Once you make it to the site there is a short walk to the site and a wood bridge you can walk on to look around so you don’t disrupt the tracks. Totally worth the trip if you are going towards Arches.
Definitely worth a stop! Can take you 20 minutes in the wind and snow, like us, or can take you an hour if you want to look around. Easy walking path leads to a nice boardwalk. Signs with descriptions by each imprint. Such a fun place to stop and it’s free!
Such a fun hike…really enjoyed myself.
As of June 24, 2022, the main dinosaur track site is closed for construction. Another trail might be open but it’s many miles on sandy roads that require 4WD and basically say “enter at your own risk” so we turned around—no idea if it’s actually open.
Site is being rehabilitated. Unable to view up close, but you can see some tracks if you walk around the fencing.
This is really worth the stop. There’s some dry camping areas if you’re in an RV.
