This campground is typically open May through September, as weather allows. Situated at 7890 feet above sea level, it is off the Kolob Terrace Road, 25 miles (45 minutes) north of the town of Virgin. It takes approximately one hour and 20 minutes to drive to the campground from the South Entrance of Zion Canyon. There are 6 primitive campsites available first-come, first-served, pit toilets, and trash cans, but no water. Vehicles longer than 19 feet are not permitted. No charge.

Camping is FREE! No water, electric or dump so come prepared. Recommend to have a short camper, signs say vehicles over 19' are prohibited. There are vault yoilets and a total of 6 spots each with picnic tables.

This site now requires reservations via recreation.gov. Cost is $20/night. The camp host is one of the best! He gave us all sorts of great information and even some free firewood! The road in was mostly asphalt. The last section was dirt and bumpy but very passable. This is a great small campsite (6 sites) with a short walk to a great viewpoint of the entire Zion and beyond. Bathrooms are clean. Each site has table and fire ring. You will have to travel for about an hour to get to the main Zion entrance, but there is plenty of awesome views from the Lava Point area.
