Confirmed by 6 users | Last reported on June 06, 2023Great little park with tons of room and lots of adventure right outside your door. We were the only rig here during our stay (they also have rentable trailers that were full the entire stay), so it was incredibly quiet and spacious. The management here is friendly, helpful and passionate about their park. Park is located in a 'ghost town', although I don't think Thompson (location) is ready to admit that. That being said, it is at least a 40 minute drive to civilization (we loved that). There is a gas-station/convenience store right down the road for emergencies! Great hook-ups, no issues there. There are ancient pictographs and petroglyphs as well as an 'admitted' ghost town right down the road (we rode our bikes there and back, ~10mile round trip.) There are train tracks nearby, so the occasional train whistle can be heard but it was not distracting- more charming than anything. Overall, great little RV park that'll have you star gazing at night and relaxing in a zen life quiet during the day.

Excellent rv park. Great amenities. Very laid back. About 30 miles to Moab. We will be back, yes it's that good. We had the time of our lives and loved the country.

We actually loved being exactly where we were rather than in the heart of Moab with traffic, etc. They have complimentary laundry.... bonus! We have dogs, so we could walk them around the little ghost like town and see what used to be. I believe the closed cafe was where "Thelma and Louise" met up with Brad Pitt. There were places to 4 wheel up behind us where there are petroglyphs, a ghost town & cemetery. There is a train that comes by, but it didn't bother us at all. We would definitely stay there, if we were to make that trip again. I'm including a pic of a sunset one night. Thank you, Dave!

The sites are very long, the staff is very friendly and helpful. Just the right distance from I-70, you can see the interstate but can’t hear it. There’s a train you can hear but not bad.

About 30 miles from Moab and half the price of the parks there. We had to pull through that was fairly level the park is well kept and very easy to get to. The train is very close and you will hear it have not been able to get on the Wi-Fi and this is day 3.

This park is about 30 miles from Moab, Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park. Sites are pull-thru, gravel and easily accessible - and very long! We mostly dealt with Dave in the office and he couldn't have been more accommodating and knowledgeable about the area and what to do. Other staff were helpful also. The rest rooms and showers were very clean and comfortable. There are laundry machines, all looking quite new - and they are complimentary! If you come here, there are roads into the desert and many don't require 4 wheel drive. There are abandoned buildings back there, left from the mining days.

Sites are large, level, and well manicured. Overall the RV Park is very clean. Managers are friendly and very accommodating. Bathrooms are spotless. Not only are the laundry facilities free but they too are immaculate. There are trails, petroglyphs and a near by ghost town to explore. And the icing on the cake, it is minutes from some of the most stunning scenery in the state. There are trains that go through several times a day but we did not find that troublesome. Interstate 70 is visible from the campground but we could not hear any road noise. From one who generally prefers boondocking, this is high praise indeed.

We found this park on Campendium app on our way from Oregon to Louisiana. 30 minutes to Arches National park. Full hook ups and free laundry facilities. Only about 3 miles from the Sego Canyon Petroglyphs! Book Cliffs are your backdrop. Staff was friendly and restrooms very clean. No place to run dogs off leash but they were making improvements to the park and that was a possibility. They rent 4 wheelers to go out on trails where you can see dinosaur footprints and overlook Arches. A diamond in the rough.

Ballard RV Park is right off I-70 and an exit away from the 191 that takes you to Arches, Moab, and Canyonlands.
The park is very clean with level, gravel sites. They are FHU sites and the cool weather allowed us to just use 30 amp for $5 less per night. The water pressure is very high, so a good pressure regulator is necessary.
There are trains that occasionally run by, but I did not hear them in the night and it was otherwise a quiet campground. The setting wasn't beautiful like so many other Utah locations, but it was fine. There wasn't much shade, so the summer could be hot.
Verizon with a WeBoost was 3-4 bars and we were able to stream video with that except in the evenings when there must have been some heavy users on a limited Verizon signal.
Arches is 33 miles away and Canyonlands is 45 miles away, so it isn't right around the corner, but the price reflects that.
There are almost no amenities on this exit except a gas station.

If you need full hookups and do not mind the drive to Moab and the National Parks then this is the place for you. Easy to get to off I-70. The sites are level, the bathrooms/showers are private and very clean, good Verizon cell service, and quiet except for a train every once in a while. When we first arrived the washer and dryer were free to use but then a few days later they had put up a sign to pay $4.00 (honor system) to wash and dry a load (still a deal for laundry). The only negative I had was the sites face each other so that you and your neighbor must share a picnic table and outside area. Not a deal breaker because we would stay here again. Overall this park is a five star for me. I struggled with the location star only because it is out in the Middle of nowhere which we did not have a problem with but others may. Our visit May 21-24 2019.
