“an oasis for rest in the shade”
The Shady Rest Campground is an oasis for rest in the shade. We have 35 sites, most with water, 30 Amp electric and 50 Amp electric, and many with sewer. The Campground is situated on 16 acres in the heart of the Endless Mountains of Northeast Pennsylvania, located about mid-way between Scranton, PA and Binghamton, NY, just 3 miles from Interstate 81. This location is convenient for travelers for an overnight stay, vacationers for a week-long vacation, or a seasonal get-a-way. We are also centrally located for workers in the natural gas industry. No matter which category you are, we have the perfect site for you. Of course, if you want a specific or pull-through site, call ahead for a reservation. Seasonal camping is May 15 to October 31. Campground is open year-round but reservations are required for the off season. Special rates will apply.

The owners are so nice, very responsiveness, knowledgeable and willing to help in any way. Sites have firewood and fire pit ready to use. The spots are well maintained. Although it is right off the highway it still seems tucked away and secluded.
This is a rural country rv park. The wfi was great, limited or no cell as it is located in a canyon off the grid somewhat. Cable tv is available free ,but did not use. The owners are great to visit with. Park is rustic, felt neat in the woods.

Great Value - we enjoyed the privacy of our campsite. There was no cell phone (this is a plus for me). The Wi-Fi worked ok. The host family was very friendly.
The campground was easy to find using the directions from their website. My GPS did not recognize the address.

Perfect example of small town service. When we arrived they took us around on a golf cart to show us the sites before we parked. Came by to check on us and had a short chat on the way out.
We paid $34 for a simple overnight stay. Full hookups. 50amp, water 55psi, sewer. Quiet and peaceful backed into the woods.
No cell service on AT&T or Verizon but the free wifi internet was surprisingly quick.
The entrance to the campground is a bit steep especially on one side. Their welcome sheet even mentions in bold all caps to avoid entering from the wrong direction on the main road. Not too difficult to manage but we did scrape our bumper slightly as we came in and left.

Stopped by for the night on our way back home from Florida. It’s a little ways off the beaten path and I don’t know if it’s standard but there are no online booking options; just call the number and pay once you arrive. All in all, easy in, easy out. Free WiFi was great, one private shower near the main office.

We stayed at this CG one night as we were passing through PA to another destination. We would not stay here again. Sandy and Allen are the owners and were kind and welcoming. We received a 10% military discount. The CG is fairly small (maybe 35 sites total) but it does have full hookups. Our site was completely level, which was nice. Big rigs were in the CG although sites for them would have to be very specific (not all the sites would accommodate them). Some of the sites were located off by themselves and some were closer together. The CG was about 3.5 miles off I-81, which we could hear a little bit at night. There was a mixture of seasonal campers (mostly neat although some of the units were old). We had the weird experience of a seasonal camper who lives in his trailer (his site was next to ours). While we were sitting outside relaxing, he came in from work in the afternoon and begin sanding his truck with power tools and playing music rather loudly. After working for about an hour or so, he went back in his trailer for the evening. Very early, before dawn, he headed out to work and blasted his headlights through our camper, waking us up. Our picnic table and some of the others needed replacing (they were old and dilapidated). The bathhouse facilities were interesting: There was one large combination room with a shower/sink/toilet. It was located in the basement of the owner’s residence. It was easy to get to – and clean – but odd. One restroom wasn’t sufficient for the entire campground. Be careful as you maneuver from I-81 to the campground; deer are everywhere. We had low Verizon coverage (only 1 to 2 bars, occasionally).

At first we just needed 1 night, but then decided to do another one. It’s just a great place. It has many levels for RV; it’s hilly, for sure. Bring leveling blocks.
There is a river down the trail; campground has a playground and huge fire ring!
