Confirmed by 5 users | Last reported on April 09, 2024The convenience of the proximity to the entrance to the Grand Canyon’s South Rim was very nice with this location, but BEWARE! The campground itself is not very well maintained and has a lot that needs to be updated. If we had it all to do over again.... 😕
This is an unattractive, poorly-managed, over-crowded, over-priced dump. Do not stay here.
Poor. would not recommend. Poor wifi charge for the showers, laundry at $3.25 per load (the Highest we've seen). The pads are in really rough shape and the access roads are rough. you would think that a place right next to the canyon that has 4 million visitors per year they could do a little maintenance.
Good open camping. Not much for shade, but within walking distance of gift shops, resturaunts, general store, grand canyon's IMAX theatre. The only downfall was there are not firepits at every camp site.
We arrived late at night during a snow-storm to a note on the front door. We found our designated slot from the map, to NO electricity, and a water facet that never turned off. Rebecca was Terrific, unfortunately I did not see her again Friday. (I saw someone different every time I went into the office afterward.) They were kind enough to send the maintenance man to us to remind us we needed to come into the office and make payment. The sewer line was large, so my standard hose did not naturally fit, I had to adjust it many times during my stay. The next day we found there was NO AT&T, no pay phones, or Prepaid US Phone Cards to be found in all of Tusuyan! When I finally asked if I could use their phone to call my CA physician, I was told not without a phone card. I saw many posts on other critic websites about the poor state of the restrooms, of which I did not need use. There was a $2.00/8min shower charge, which I chose not to pay. The charge was the same amount for the "summer rate" as it is for the sites actually locates in the Grand Canyon park, so if you are able to reserve one of those, you can spend more time actually AT the Grand Canyon. We left after a 2nd snowstorm, 1 day visit to the Grand Canyon and a lot less in our pockets.

Check in was a breeze and because we got there right after noon, we had good selection. The site was good and wide enough for us as well as simple hookups.
The laundry was quite expensive, pay for the showers and bathrooms were mostly clean but nothing too special.
Best thing is the location to Grand Canyon. This park is the last thing in the city before you go towards the entry gate which is just 2 miles away. This is across the street from a shuttle stop and also a place you can buy tours. Near a grocery store as well.
The wifi actually worked okay until the evening when so many people got on it.
If you are coming to town just for Grand Canyon - check in close to noon and enjoy the quick trips in and out of the park.

It's a parking lot with hookups, but it's a mile from the South Rim. We visited in winter so it wasn't too bad - only about 25% full, but I wouldn't want to be packed in here on season. Unlike many national parks, this is not a scenic camping spot and it's run by an outside concessionaire so it's pricey. On the upside you get w/e hookups and cell signal and to be inside the park. We had family visiting and staying at one of the hotels on the rim, so it was worth it for the convenience factor.

I wish I could post a zero star review. This place is terrible, even if the only game in town. You'd be better off staying at Williams (50 miles away) than to deal with the rude staff and terrible upkeep of this "village".
The roads are rough, all lots are dirt and uneven (when dry), and the lukewarm showers disgusting.
But the worst was the treatment by the staff behind the desk. On more than one occasion I walked in to talk to the person perched behind the computer and start a conversation only to find that the lady was on a headset chatting with someone. A finger waved in the air was the only way to know that she was already engaged. After ending one call, I could only get a few words in edgewise before she would transition to a new call in the middle of our conversation.
The last straw was a back and forth over quarters for the showers. The first day, the lady behind the desk pleasantly made small talk while making change for three in our party to take showers. The second day a different lady was exceptionally rude (once off headset) and refused to make change. She told my girlfriend to get change from the next door General Store. My GF dutifully trudged to the General Store (in her PJs) to get quarters but was rudely told by the General Store that the Camper Village should be responsible for making change for their patrons.
So my poor GF trudged back to take another chance with the rude lady behind the desk. Again the woman said "no", b/c she had no change to give. My GF suggested that the woman could probably get some change from the coin machines in the nearby shower house. The woman angrily replied that she was busy, we should try a gas station in town, and...no exaggeration...returned to eating her Big Mac!
We had to drive into town to get quarters to shower before leaving that afternoon.

We stayed in April and came in last minute as an impromptu visit on our way to Flagstaff. It is a parking lot with full hookups, but it’s proximity to the South Rim gate is awesome. We also pulled in after a long drive and it was super easy to just go to the well supplied general store that also has a Starbucks attached. The staff was friendly and hookups are working great. WiFi code did not work and the office closed before we could ask for help. Oh well!
