“Largest private aviation museum in the USA”
Pima Air & Space Museum, where history takes flight, is one of the largest air and space museums in the world, and the largest non-government funded aviation museum. You'll see more than 300 aircraft and spacecraft including many of the most historically significant and technically advanced craft ever produced, both from the United States and throughout the world. Our collection includes President John F. Kennedy's Air Force One, and presidential aircraft used by president's Nixon and Johnson. The Museum has five large hangars totaling more than 177,000 feet of exhibit space. In addition, the 390th Bombardment Group (Heavy) Memorial Museum is located on the Museum grounds. Pima Air & Space maintains its own aircraft restoration center, and is also proud to offer exclusive tours of the Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group (AMARG), also known as the "Boneyard," located across the street at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base.
I came here in the winter and was pleasantly surprised with the entire experience! I generally am not a huge plane geek but once you walk through the front doors of this place and out the back in the yard full of planes its like a whole different world. They had planes of all different shapes, sizes, colors and types. My personal favourite section is the helicopters! They have a sweet collection of helicopter and army looking massive helicopters that I am surprised could ever fly!
Over 100 different types of planes to see. A lot of walking or you can pay an extra $6 to take an 1 hours trolley tour with a guide explaining the different types of planes. Definitely worth seeing
A truly awesome place. There are so many airplanes. I have a love of photo and aviation. I move quick at places and still 3 hours in didn't get to see all. So plan at least 2-3 hours time to really go to all the hangars (let alone the 200 planes outside alone!)
Bring water! Lots of walking but very worth it!
Wonderful staff. Enjoyable trip with something for everyone.
Not to Miss - Amazing
