We picked a spot up on the hill and it was perfect. I loved that the site was out of the way from the rest of the park. The restrooms and showers were closed. So, I can't comment on those. Overall, this park is really nice and quiet. Everyone was very friendly. We enjoyed are walks around and you can hear the seals barking as the ocean is right across the street. Ideally, next time I would choose S5 as my spot as it is higher on the hill and is a really large site. If you need a buddy site I would choose S3 and S2.

Overall it was a good experience. Very nice reception even though we came in at 7:00 pm without a reservation, they helped us get all set up. Cell service is very limited, the internet is a bit slow, but it works well.

Ended up in this area on a weekend and got nervous about availability---settled on this only b'c they had online reservations, but boy were the choices confusing.Took at 25' wide back-in spot on the middle tier, and though they were tight, it worked out ok. We were the only van they'd ever seen, according to a neighbor. Nice space around us til a new arrival on Sat, a smoker who liked to sit outside. The grounds are nice with a sort of "faded glory" vibe. Never saw a manager at all and office kept locked due to COVID. Picked a quart of fresh blackberries on the bushes steps from our van! The top tier sites with sea view had little decks with tables and chairs, though are up a steep hill. Bathhouse remains closed for COVID, which seems unnecessary at this point. with proper cleaning. The free WIFI was pretty good and two bars Verizon consistently. Checked out the old coast road into Trinidad, despite warnings. Pretty bumpy old pavement, and hairy at a one-lane washout spot, but otherwise a pretty drive and do-able in 22' van.

We stayed end of March, this areas big season is during summer so the park was mostly empty. Very close to state park with tide pools, otherwise need to drive to get to anything else. There are LOTS of RV parks in this area. Pull thru spots were a little thin but very long. Back in spots very good size

We enjoyed our stay here over the July 4 holiday. It was full with families and lots of activity but was never noisy. Nice green grass in our space with shade tree. Utilities work well and are easily accessed. Our site was able to connect to satellite through the trees. Adequate but dated laundry. No change machine. Friendly and helpful staff on site. The lids on the trash bin are sooooo heavy - very hard to open without injury. Dark and quiet at night. Sue Meg SP just down the road for ocean access, but no ocean views from the park. No RVs allowed 2 miles south of the park - use Patricks Point Road to and from Hwy 101 only. We prefer parks with no fire rings because too many people don't know how to keep them burning without smoke blowing all over others' campsites, but they weren't too bad here.

We loved our time here. Very quiet, beautiful flowers and grounds and a great view. Our site had a fire pit and had a deck with picnic table. Trees made is a very picturesque setting. FHU. Checkin was a breeze and Trish was very nice. Definitely would stay again.

Check in was an absolute breeze. Nice, quiet location across from the Pacific Ocean. Our site had a fire ring, which we used and a picnic table. It is very close to Sue-Meg State Park. So many places to explore in the area between the Redwood forests and the beaches and this was our base camp while we explored the area. We are giving 5 stars because we do enjoy the park and we would definitely stay again, but the laundry room and restrooms need attention. Murphy in Trinidad is your closest grocery store (approx 10 minutes away).

We traveled here August 30-31, 2014.
This is a nicely maintained RV park that is primarily gravel and grass. It is 300ft about sea level, and there are no clear ocean views unless you drive a little ways down the street. Though our daughter found some nice kids to play with, this park isn't really suited to entertaining young children. Patrick's Point State Park is just down the street (which is a much better spot if you can snag a reservation) with beach access and walking trails. There is a trail that is walkable from Sound of the Sea to the beach; however, it's extremely steep and we didn't not think it safe to try with a backpack carrier on. Finding the front office was tricky too, and there was no one there when we arrived in the middle of the day.
Laundry Prices: $1.00/wash, $1.50/ 30mins of drying
They accept Good Sam and AAA as discounts. We don't recall exactly how much we paid, but it was in the $40-$45 per night range with the discount.
WiFi is horrendous. Don't recall our cell service.
BEWARE: the road driving in from the freeway is windy and full of deep potholes.
As far as shopping in the area is concerned: avoid the Wal-Mart in this area at all costs and drive a little farther to the Target. If you need a hardware store, Ace is the only one in town. A quaint country grocery store is just down the street with a phenomenal selection of local beers, meats, cheeses, and four Its-It ice cream sandwich flavors; though the prices were high.

1. Review saying bumpy access is not true . Take exit 734 and go past Patrick’s Pt Statepark for about a mile or so on Patrick’s Pt Drive
2. A lot of long term residents but our area was somewhat away from those and next to Laundry
3. Ocean View was a nice and listening to sea lions / harbor seals in early morning was a plus
4. Easy access to Patrick’s Point statepark was a plus
5. Internet was mediocre at best and ATT was one to two bars for voice , LTE internet access
