the elk seen in the photos are indeed there everyday, and even with 3 kids we never felt they were unsafe, so if that is a concern you can rest. please keep in mind that with these beautiful creatures comes their waste, so make sure to have a door mat since it is unavoidable stepping in little pellets of poop.
the property is actually pretty big. Since it was winter we stayed out in the field, which is right next to the 1, but it is remarkably quiet.
the most amazing part of this site is the fact you are surrounded by forest. and you can walk right into one, without any effort. you are also a short hike away from the beach, it is truly breathe taking.
We didn't stay in them, but they had some of the nicest tent site I have ever seen next to the lake on the top of their property. very private and surrounds by red woods.
just an amazing spot that I can't wait to visit again over and over.
We had lots of RV sites to choose from but were happy with the forest pull through assigned (full hook up). There are also many sites in the meadow, as well as tent camping back in the forest. We were warmly welcomed and were provided with helpful information on hiking in the nearby parks. It was easy to maneuver our rig and car, plus there is a large parking area that was perfect for hooking up the car.
There is a small store with a few amenities and some movies for rent.
There was a herd of elk that were always around.
The resort is a short drive from all sorts of hiking trails, the beach, and some amazing big trees.
In Orick, the country store, as you drive into town, makes sandwiches that are perfect for taking on a hike.
Cell reception and wifi were not very good from our site. I had no service on my Nexus with AT&T, but the iPhone had 2 bars LTE.

If you want to see Elk out your window, this is the place to stay. The campground is theirs, we are visitors to it. They typically come out in the morning, but one afternoon we had a herd of 43 wandering between the RVs.
The campground is a good place from which to explore the area. The word "Resort" is a little misleading. But still, it was a pleasant stay.
The roads are paved. Check in was efficient. There are some items in the camp store, but nothing we needed. They did have DVDs you could borrow for free.
We felt the best campsites were in the meadow. They are pull-through with gravel pads, grass, and a picnic table. They are up by the road, but the road noise was not bothersome.
The WiFi, although a strong 802.11g signal, was unusable. The speed was so slow, we pulled out the Verizon MiFi. Verizon varied on my phone between no bars to to 1X. MiFi was a consistent 1X until I put it on the booster. Then I was able to get 2 bars of 4G at 6 Mbps.
OTA TV was non-existent. If you need your nightly TV fix, come with your own DVDs, a satellite dish, or stream on your own device.
There are lots of campgrounds in the area. If we were through here again, we would have to debate staying here again or trying one right on the water. It is definitely the elk that make this place special.

This park's claim to fame is the herd of wild elk that graze in and around the campground. Otherwise, it was just an average park. It is right off of the highway, but the road noise was not a problem. The location was close to many CA state parks and Redwood National and State Park.
We stayed July 4th weekend and it was sold out. Park was quiet at night even though full. Be wary of elk poop all over the place. Not a big problem, but...
The office/store has a couple of things for sale, but get your supplies before arriving, as the closest grocery store is in Trinidad, about 10 miles away. Trinidad is a nice coastal town with some good sightseeing and some decent places to eat.
While we only had two bars of ATT coverage, speeds were 20 mb/sec down and 5 mb/sec up. There was no OTA TV channels available, and if you have a satellite dish, be sure to camp in the "meadow" vice "forest", as the forest sites are truly in a forest and you won't get a signal.
Bathrooms and showers were slightly below average, but acceptable. Laundry was $3.25/wash and $0.25/6 min for dry. Washers and dryers were new-ish. There is a change machine and laundry supplies vending machine. Be sure to ask for the key to bathroom/shower/laundry.
Overall, you stay here because you either like elk (which it was really cool to see them so close), or you want proximity and access to all the nearby parks.

Stayed here with my sister and brother-in-law in a travel trailer on July 18 and 19, 2017. We Loved it and didn't experience any rude or unwelcoming folks working there. It is different from many standard RV parks in that you have the choice to park out in an open meadow, fairly lined up in typical RV condo fashion, or you can stay in more spacious sites scattered throughout a large dense shady forest......very much like a state park or National Forest campground. This RV park/campground is 60 years old.....very well established and fairly big. The meadow sites and many of the forested sites have hook ups. The central restroom/shower building is decently clean but could use some spiffing up. After all these buildings are situated in a damp salt-air climate, so rust on fixtures and paint fading is to be expected. But it could use some freshening up at this time. The park itself is very pleasant, clean, and well-kept. It has a lovely natural and safe feel to it. We all definitely plan to be back in the near future. Next time I'll bring my husband in our travel trailer.

This was our second stop at this park (both times in the fall on our way south for the winter) and both times we were treated to elk wandering thru the park. Be aware, they are everywhere and you have to watch were you step because there is no one going along behind them picking up :^)
We only stay here on our way south so our review is for one night only. Because of our length (with car in tow) we had to choose between a pull thru that would accommodate us (without having to disconnect) or a pull thru that would get satellite (we chose the former).

We really enjoyed our stay here. We had a little issue with the electric hook ups, but the staff came right out and fixed it while we were out at the beach.
We really enjoyed getting up and seeing the Elk roaming through the camp grounds. Be aware they are not out all day they pass through in the early mornings.
The quality of campers was great! Friendly people going through. No late night noise or nonsense. The restrooms and showers were well kept. The internet was sketchy and you have to pay for data. Cell coverage was good with sprint and the hot spot ran strong. No cable.

We stayed here again, almost a year after our last review. Not much has changed, but another enjoyable stay.
Updates:
Laundry is now $3.50/wash.
ATT Hotspot only had two bars, but we got 20mbs download speed.
Great water pressure.
Showers aren't the best, but aren't the worst. Shower heads need to be replaced.
Showers have a code now, no more keys.
Recycling has to be manually sorted.
Everything else is about the same.

Our desire to stay at Elk Country was for the elk. Thought it would be really cool to see them up close and travelling through the campground. Unfortunately, zero elk the four days we stayed here. We stayed middle of August so it may have just been the time of year but it was definitely a bummer.
This campground is a typical private campground with restrooms and showers and a small general store with really friendly staff. Nothing else really too exciting to mention.
Verizon and AT&T service worked well but T-Mobile was pretty much dead.
A decent little park along the coast, priced well for the area. There aren't many camping options along this stretch of the 101 so we were happy they had availability.
