“welcome to the thrill show”
For daredevils and dreamers of all ages, come rediscover the spectacle of the death-defying Evel Knievel show, now open and flying sky-high in Topeka, Kansas. Witness the incredible collection of the physics-defying bikes that launched the legend. See his iconic 1974 Mack Truck & Trailer "Big Red." Examine the star-spangled helmets (battered, and beaten and beautiful) that undoubtedly saved Evel’s uninsurable life more than once. Listen to the eye-widening, imagination-sparking, and the doesn’t-seem-possible stories that defined an American icon. KANSAS: NOW WITH MORE VEGAS. So why build a grand tribute to high-flying rebellion in Topeka? As always with Evel, the “why” is fantastic and a little fuzzy. Maybe it’s because being in the middle of the country means we’re just a few broken speed limits away from anyone who wants to relive his legacy. Maybe it’s because it’s where Joie Chitwood, stuntman and inspiration to a fifteen-year-old Knievel, got his start. Maybe it’s because we just thought it’d be cool to build an Evel Knievel museum connected to one of the most iconic Harley-Davidson stores in the nation. Or maybe when you’re inspired to create a tribute to America’s most iconic daredevil, you drop everything and start chasing the dream from wherever you are. For us, that’s Topeka.
This Museum is a MUST STOP! You will be blown away by what you will see. It doesn’t mater if you don’t like motorcycles... seriously STOP! Videos, pictures, interactive exhibits, and even a 4-D Virtual Reality Jump! It’s so freaking cool.
This museum was a great stop on a Sunday afternoon as we passed they town. Interesting information. Very captivating museum with a theater room showing his movies and even a VR Evil Knievel “jump”. Beware though, the “exit” leads to a very tempting and costly gift shop. To avoid this exit thru the entrance and we had to do anyways after our shopping was over. The staff here was very kind and the bathroom was clean.
