“secluded, back-to-nature camping”
Cool, secluded back-to-nature camping is the style here. The peace and quiet of the outdoors is enhanced by the tranquil sounds of the stream behind your campsite, deck or weather shelter. We offer immaculate restrooms, a country store, get-togethers, cable TV, WiFi and cabins, too. Then, just 30 minutes to the excitement of Cherokee, Harrah's Casino and many daily activities.

Beautiful surroundings, well maintained facilities (restroom, hot showers, free wi-fi at the main office), sheltered and secluded camp sites, right next to moonshine creek. Definitely add it to your trip. Great staff and close to local waterfalls.
This is a beautiful campground in a rustic setting in the mountains of NC. They have cabins, tent sites, and RV sites, and we saw all three in use. All are heavily shaded. A small but active creek runs through the campground providing wonderful background noise. Our RV site, #74, was especially nice as the creek ran behind the site (the back of our motorhome jutted out over the creek) and then curved around our camping side where we had a private wooden deck over the creek! Some of the sites are small - our driver's side slide was about two feet away from touching our neighbor's awning. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It's just a few miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway and there are many places to go hiking nearby. There's a real sense of community in the campground, other campers out and about, interested in chatting, etc. The drawbacks for us were the lack of any open space to play with our dogs, and the lack of Wi-Fi. They have a hotspot in their office which you can use for occasional connectivity. AT&T coverage is poor, Verizon is moderate, but with our booster we were able to get good connections with both. We received no over-the-air TV channels, but the campground does offer cable TV for a daily fee. The route to the campground is a little tricky but doable in a big rig. Be sure to get the directions from the campground, as one route has a low bridge that must be avoided.

Immaculate. Beautiful and immaculate campground. Super friendly staff. Best bathrooms and laundry facilities you will come across. Fairly close to your neighbors but not annoyingly so. Level gravel spots and full hook ups. A bit of a winding road to get there but not unmanageable. 15 minutes to Walmart, gas and restaurants.
Minimal cell service.

We are glad we finally got to camp in this beautiful valley private campground in the Smokey Mountains. Overnight campers get to set up by the creek and seasonal campers on the mountainside. The staff escort you to your site and do an excellent job of helping you back in. There are small waterfalls and ponds throughout with short nice walking trails. The bathrooms are perfect with modern and clean facilities and up to date washers and dryers. Nearby and lots of attractions and small towns to visit including Bryson City and Asheville less than an hour away. Lots to explore in the area.

We are fulltime RVers and have stayed at too many campgrounds to count. But this was definitely the best campground we have ever stayed at. We stayed here for nearly 6 weeks and had a wonderful experience.
First of all, the campground itself is simply stunning. It is located just 2 miles off the Blue Ridge Parkway. The grounds, including all common areas, are meticulously taken care of and extremely clean. We had a site along the creek and absolutely loved it. It was spacious and we loved falling asleep to the sound of rushing water at night. **For families with kids: Kids can not play in the creek at the campsite, there is an area further down that is designated for this. (This is actually very helpful to have this rule/designation since the creek is pretty fast-moving at the area where the RV sites are.)**
Secondly, the owners and workampers were wonderful and very accommodating during our stay. They are knowledgable about hikes and things to do in the area. The camp store is well-stocked. Make sure to bring your kiddos in for a free lollipop. :)
Lastly, my husband really wanted me to add that the firewood they have for sale is the best we've ever purchased. Often times we find firewood at stores and campgrounds is not adequately dried out, but this firewood was and burned really well.
5 year old wants to add: "All the people at Moonshine Creek are really nice and we love the campground."
We would (and already have) recommend it to others in a heartbeat!
* I'm not actually sure about the nightly rate, as we stayed there on a monthly rate. The monthly rate is $850 for a creekside site. We thought it was an excellent value. *
* Since we are fulltimers, I wanted to add about cell service since many FT RVers depend heavily. We have verizon and had 2-3 bars without our antennas. They do have a booster in the office. We also have our own antennas to improve signal. With those we had 4-5 bars. At times, it was still a little slow but overall adequate for work and streaming *

We fortunately found this campground, most places were closed due to covid. Nice location with cute stream near our site. The restrooms and laundry area were amazingly clean and well designed. We would recommend this camp highly and will camp here anytime we will be in the area. The owners are onsite and very considerate and helpful. We basically cannot say enough nice things about Moonshine Creek Camp.
We look forward to our next stay there!
Tmobile texting worked here but our other Tmobile options were really limited. Owner says that ATT and verizon work well.
Owner helps guide all arrivals into their parking spots to ensure most level positioning. He knows every inch of this place.

Once again this campground is a beautiful wonderful peaceful place with a babbling creek flowing through the campground with shade trees and ponds and benches in the stream to cool off on. It’s perfectly maintained. Nearby attractions include Asheville, Byson City, the Blue Ridge Parkway and great small towns to explore

We were here in August with 4 other AirStreamers, sites 12,11,10,8, 23. After walking the campground many times, I deduced I like sites 12 and 13 are my faves. The river is widest And loudest at these spots. Sites 76,75 get more sun in case you camp in cold months. There are several roads off hey 74/23 so check your gps to avoid a few hair pin turns . Great restaurants in Sylva, and Dillsboro, and lots of hiking in GSMNP

Adorable campground tucked in the woods of the Smoky Mountains. Close to many outdoor activities. Grounds are beautiful and very well maintained. Our site was one of the most level gravel sites we’ve encountered. Full hookups and a campfire ring right beside the creek. Camp store was small, but adequately stocked. Had no problems accessing campground with a 25’ RV.

This is one of the nicest campgrounds we’ve stayed at in a while, you tell it’s very well taken care of. The landscaping is beautiful while still having a very natural in the woods kind of feel.
All of the non seasonal sites are creekside and the sound of babbling water is wonderful. There are trails and paths throughout the campground that also lead to a nice pond a spillway/waterfall. There is a train track nearby but we only heard it once or twice during our stay and it was in the middle of the day.
The bathrooms and laundry area were always spotless and were pretty updated. The showers had endless hot water, however if you are really tall you may have to duck to get under the shower head. I’m 5’5” and was fine but only had a few inches to spare.
The location is great, with an easy drive to the blue ridge parkway. It’s also close to north Sylva and Waynesville for town activities and an easy day trip drive to Asheville or Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
We had no problems with internet using our AT&T hotspot so we didn’t check Verizon.
