“contemporary classic”
On Stepping into the restaurant, you’re greeted by the ambience of an 18th century inn. Pewter plates glow from antique corner cupboards; burnished brass lamps shine softly on mellow wood, brick and stone; two fireplaces invite you to linger awhile. The photographs and prints that grace the walls are a treasury of Pennsylvania history and Penn State tradition. Informally, over the years, The Tavern has become an intriguing gallery-in-a-restaurant. The menu, which changes daily, allows the chef to choose the “best of the freshest” for each evening’s guests. The Tavern is particularly noted for veal, seafood, prime rib, and pasta dishes.Special Groups merit special attention at The Tavern. Sports teams, wedding parties, conference groups, and other private parties find the experienced Tavern staff responsive to their needs. Whether your event is a rehearsal dinner, banquet, or other occasion, arrangements can be custom-tailored for you. The Tavern offers three private dining rooms to accommodate large and small groups, a wide variety of menu selections and prices, as well as flexibility in bar service, table settings, linens, flowers and decorations . . . even an early opening. All to make your function a success.
