“A European getaway in the heart of St Louis”
A St. Louis tradition with roots dating back to the 1920s, The Cheshire embodies the charm and authenticity of a traditional British inn with all the modern conveniences of today. The hotel has just completed a multi-million dollar restoration, preserving all the charm and authentic details for which it was known. The Cheshire features 108 luxuriously appointed guest rooms and suites. In keeping with the boutique hotel’s theme, each of the guest rooms pays tribute to a great British author. Guests will discover a framed biography alongside a hard-cover copy of his or her works. Six Novelty Suites are custom designed to capture the spirit of a classic work of literature, such as Romeo & Juliet, Death on the Nile or James Bond. There is a lovely, heated outdoor pool featuring poolside massage and food and beverage service. For those who are not guests of The Cheshire, day pool passes are available for $20/day on weekdays and $35/day on weekends. Passes are based on occupancy and availability. In addition to pool access, the day pass will include a room key which will also allow access the Wellness Center with shower facilities. Purchase your Cheshire Pool Pass at the front desk. The famed Fox & Hounds Tavern, located off the lobby, has been restored as well and features a wide variety of cocktails, beer and wine and a small plates menu featuring traditional pub fare.
The British-themed hotel clearly looks out of place in St. Louis, but it’s been a fixture in STL for well over 80 years, from way back when it was just a lowly hamburger joint in the 1920’s. The Cheshire is a charming throwback to traditional British inns, complete with a cozy on-site pub...oh and the pool is pretty rad too.
We had a fun time staying here. The hotel is quirky and the staff is great. The literary theme was fun and gimicky in the best way. I miss these kinds of places and it was a real treat to experience one that is not only still up and running, but done well! Wish we could have stayed longer than 1 night. The complementary breakfast is great as well!
