“Relive th' adventurous Golden Age o' Sweet trade”
The St. Augustine Pirate & Treasure Museum is a unique collection of authentic pirate artifacts coupled with elements of interactive technology that reveal a scintillating historic adventure through the Golden Age of Piracy and the lives of the era's most infamous pirates. With the "please touch" and audio-animatronics of a theme park coupled with the provenance of a museum, guests undertake an awesome pirate journey both above and below deck filled with compelling lore, surprising facts and an abundance of sensory perceptions. Among more than 800 museum-quality artifacts, threaded through the storyline is the original journal of Captain Kidd's last voyage, the only authentic pirate treasure chest in the world that originally belonged to Captain Thomas Tew and the oldest pirate Wanted Poster for the capture of Captain Henry Every.
Visited with my 3 girls ( 5 yo, 2 yo, and 9 mo) and had a blast! We were there about 3 hrs. Captain Mayhem directed the tour and was great. After the tour we went through again with a treasure map to find clues throughout. There's even pirate cannons for the kids to fire. Will definitely visit again!
Although we were unable to tour the pirates museum, we entered the store with our three daughters and our middle daughter who is on the spectrum was startled by the cannon noises. The owners couldn’t have been more accommodating by offering to turn off the cannon noises and even got a pirate from the back to come and say hello to the kids. The gift shop had a ton of cool stuff and it was well worth the visit.
Great interactive museum, very kid friendly.
I brought the wife (unwillingly I might add) and she ended up liking this attraction the most while we stayed at St. Augustine. Captain Mayhem was awesome and I highly recommend the tour when you go (it's free!). We stayed after the tour and and took our time with all of the items there are to see. We were there about an hour and a half. Great place. When we go back next year I'm bringing all of the kids!
This was a fun place to visit and educational as well. The "pirate" tour guide was exceptionally entertaining
This was a lot of fun. We were very entertained but learned a lot.
