“Discover St. Augustine”
Climb 219 steps to the top of our 165 foot tall tower for a breathtaking view of historic downtown St. Augustine; the beaches and the nation's oldest port. Discover St. Augustine's rich maritime history at the site of Florida's first lighthouse. Explore exhibits in the restored keepers' house about the Coast Guard in WWII St. Augustine; shipwrecks; and the lives of the keepers and their families. Don't forget to shop in the museum store for unique lighthouse and maritime gifts.
Worth the stop/detour Not too pricey. Not for the faint of heart. If you do not like heights, do not go. I have a daughter afraid of heights. She did not attempt. I have another daughter who is not afraid of heights and after three flights she turned around. My wife and oldest daughter went up separately. Spectacular view.
Tucked in ancient oak trees sits this most beautiful and historic light house. To enjoy it at night, book a concert at the St. Augustine amphitheater. While sitting under the oak trees, listening to your favorite artist (James Taylor!), the circular lights from the light house, show you the way to bliss.
This is my favorite place in St. Augustine! The view is incredible! And there is so much history here.
If you're only going to do one lighthouse in your life, I'd recommend this one, mostly because when you're climbing to the top, there is a railing on each side of the stairwell instead of just one. The steps are also wider and less steep - so yes, there are more steps but it makes for an easier climb. There's an open ended tour around the grounds which was interesting and informative as well as museum exhibits around the property.
I loved this lighthouse - and - area... I would give 5$, but I thought the &12 fee was a tad speedy given there was not much else but the lighthouse ... In any case - fun and beautiful!! ❤️ a must see!
Really cool. Don't buy a ticket for yourself or any children afraid of heights. Beautiful view. Cool little gift shop as well.
Wear your comfy shoes because this is 219 steps of awesomeness! Oh, and don't give up because that view from the top makes it all worth it!
Beautiful scenery. Get to go through the history and walk up to the top of the lighthouse. Very fun
Great fun at reasonable price, and parking is free and easy. Really enjoyed the history, and the volunteers were very friendly and gave us more information than was available in the buildings. There is also a side part that very few went to, that exhibits boat building and actual artifact cleaning.
