“Come visit this beautiful Queen Anne B&B”

Harmony Hill Bed and Breakfast is the restored home of Jim and Barbara Halsey. Constructed around 1890, this beautiful Victorian residence was originally built for the Frank Fields family and was later purchased by Jim’s grandfather, Aaron Gambill, in 1925. The influence of the Queen Anne style is visible in the three sided bays and in the decorative trim work, including turned porch posts and balusters, the large molded cornices over the windows, and the gingerbread that surrounds the porches and gazebos. A unique feature in the home is the grand entrance hall from which the staircase rises. This foyer and the upstairs hallways are paneled in oak, original to the house. Jim and Barbara added another three-sided bay which provides bathrooms and closets for three of the bedrooms. An elaborate Florida room was added to take full advantage of the scenic view. Perhaps the most treasured room is the library – a must for Barbara, a retired teacher and former bookstore owner. Oak raised panels are featured here. The main house has seven bedrooms, four of which are open to our guests. The Carriage House is separate from the main house and has its own entrance. Each bedroom is air-conditioned and has its own private bath, and five of the bedrooms feature fireplaces with gas logs. All bedrooms are equipped with ceiling fans as well. Guests who choose Harmony Hill please refer our to "No pets – No children under twelve" policy. Smoking is restricted to the porch areas. Each day begins with a breakfast of homemade pastries, fresh fruits, and hot entrees served in the dining room, in the gazebo on the deck, or on the wicker furnished porch with its breathtaking view of surrounding mountains and gardens. Harmony Hill Bed and Breakfast provides the perfect Sparta NC lodging experience. While visiting Harmony Hill you can enjoy mountain biking, nature hiking, and tubing or canoeing down the New River. It is only an hour’s drive to the historical Barter Theatre in Abingdon, Virginia. Also, close by are three 18-hole golf courses, Mangum Pottery, Air Bellows Herb Farm, Stone Mountain State Park, Mount Rogers (Virginia’s highest mountain), Ashe County Cheese Factory, Ashe County frescoes, Grandfather Mountain, Blowing Rock, and the famous Chateau Morrisette winery located on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
