We visited Winhall Brook campground in September and really liked it. First of all, the rates, with the Federal Interagency pass is only $13 for water/electric -- they don't have the fees and exclusions that more and more federal sites are adding. The rate for non-utility sites, of which there are many, is a bit less.

We stayed in the water/electric loop which only has about 22 sites which are spaced ok but certainly closer than we'd like -- with level parking, lots of grass, and many larger trees. Next time, I think we would try for some non-electric sites along the brook which have nice grassy layouts and in some cases, great spacing.

The West River Rail Trail goes right through the park and is wonderful for walking or cycling. This place gets pretty full in the summer, understandably so, so reservations are a must. Off-season, there were a few vacant sites in our loop and only a couple of campers in the rest of the park. The camp host, Carol, has been volunteering there for a long time and is a great help. There is wifi at the registration center which was strong one time and anemic another. No ATT signal in the campground, like much of Vermont, but about a half-mile from the park, across from a small furniture manufacturer, there is a reasonable signal. Likely Verizon as well.

You will note in the guidance for the park that there is a narrow bridge into the south area, with vehicles limited to 42'. I don't think they worry about that much but I talked to several big rig owners who just unhitched their toad, folded in their mirrors, and crossed. One guy told me, "I've seen much worse in my 20 years of moving around the country." With a 25' trailer and truck, we were about 44' with the two vehicles and it was a piece of cake.

This is a place that we'll definitely want to visit again. Because of incoming storms, we left a day early and missed doing some of the things in the area that we had planned:
*Check out Jamaica State Park
* Visit Winhall Deli in Bondville
*Go to the Ball Mountain Dam
*Geocache along West River

I noticed that several RV's used this as a stop on their way up through the state. It is right off Route 100, Vermont's scenic byway. Give it a try.

We were looking for a place to stop over on our trek through New England. Being a big fan of COE campgrounds, we were delighted to find this one hidden away in Vermont. The sites are a bit close, but everything else is so right. 20+ sites have water & electric at the sites. The sites are mostly grass and the roads are paved. We will definitely store this one in our GPS for a return whenever we’re in the area. The cell signal is weak, but we had little trouble accessing the Internet with Verizon.

Just passing through and only spent 1 night but would definitely return.
We dry camped and our site was very roomy, lovely and right along the river. All sites are grass (no gravel or concrete pads) but beautifully kept. The park was quiet (our stay was during the week.)
The bathroom/shower was nothing fancy but clean and everything worked.
We didn't use it but a dump station is available and it is easy to access.
Hosts were very very friendly and helpful.

Note: There is a narrow bridge that has to be crossed to get to the sites on the South side of the park with some sharp turns, it's helpful to use the dump station loop to position yourself to avoid the sharp turns.

Our Verizon phones didn't have signal at our campsite but did at the office.

Working our way south from New Hampshire Earl and I stayed the night at Winhall Brook. I continue to like COE campgrounds and this was no exception.

We stayed in the south loop on Labor Day. Sites in the south loop are grass with good views and good quality electric and water connections. The water valve is one of the large lever handle types but in default mode it discharges through an outlet for filling buckets. Pull down on the bucket outlet before raising the lever and water will flow through the hose bib. Had me stumped until my neighbor saw me scratching my head.

There is a narrow prefabricated bridge that leads from the check in area across the brook to the camp sites. It requires a tight turn entering from the check-in area. Exist is easier since you can loop around the dump station to get aligned with the bridge.

Winhall Brook is peaceful and good value. Earl and I would stay there again if passing through this area.

This is a beautiful riverside campground with lovely green grass and the sound of rushing water to keep you company. The campground is divided into two sections, North and South, at the confluence of two rivers which affords some pretty views. We loved the trails alongside the rivers, great for biking and dog walking. There is swimming in season but no dogs are allowed in the designated swimming area. There is a small playground and a volleyball area and some other simple outdoor amenities but the focus here is on the natural setting and outdoor activities. There are electric hookups on the South side although they are very close together without any privacy. I wouldn't want to camp in that loop but it was full when I was there in October. The South side non-electric sites nearest the designated swim area are all open to each other in a circle. There are non-electric sites on both sides spread out along the riverside and across the park road in large grassy settings, most of them open to each other but still beautiful. The North side has a few wooded sites. Sites N15 and N16 are two sites in a little enclosed wooded area and good for two families but if you don't know the other occupants it would be too close for comfort. The lean-to sites on the North side are very nice. If privacy is a high priority then this campground might not be for you, or call the office and talk to the helpful and pleasant rangers for advice in booking the right site for your needs. The bathrooms were very well lit, clean and the showers are free. $10 is the discounted price if you have a Senior Interagency Pass and a fantastic bargain!

Some electric sites are available, but all the sites are decent sized and relatively flat. The only issue with bigger rigs is the bridge to cross to the south side of the CG. It’s a hard right turn to a narrow one lane bridge. Dump stations, bathrooms, and swimming on the river are all nearby. The bathrooms are immaculate and the CG is always clean.

** NorthSide of the CG is closed in 2020 due to a water issue.**

I’ve camped with a group friends at Winhall Brook every September since 2016.This is an Army Corps of Engineers campground on the forks of a river is well maintained.

The only serviced sites are in the south loop. The only caveat is that campers need to cross a narrow bridge to get to the south loop. This requires a sharp right turn. Because of this, the length of the trailer/TV is limited to 42ft max.

The comfort stations include free showers. There is a picnic shelter in the north loop. Cell service has been limited in the past, but it seems to have improved.

Notes for 2020:
-the north loop is closed for construction
-self checkin this year

A cautionary tale:
On my first trip to Winhall Brook, I relied on my Garmin which took me past the entrance to the park and down a narrow lane on the riber. Of course, this was in the dark, and I had to get permission from a property owner to turn around in their yard. Another camper from our group had the same thing happen to him on the following day.

Places to visit:
-Ball Mountain dam
-Jake’s in Londonderry for fabulous fish & chips
Weston Village Store: https://www.westonvillagestore.com/ : clothing, souveniers(food with samples) lots of jigsaw puzzles! Be sure to visit upstairs.
-The Vermont Country Store, Weston: https://www.westonvillagestore.com/: food, games/toys, clothing, bedding, candy, food (with samples), sale items upstairs
-On the way to Weston on Hwy 100, be sure to stop at the https://www.lasserceramics.com/ for pottery on the left and Gramma Millers Pies—not limited to pies!—on the right.

Vehicle problems?
Visit Colemans Auto Repair at Hwy 30 & 100. Junior diagnosed and had my TV repaired the same afternoon that I brought it to them—at a very reasonable price.

I have camped with a group of friends every Sept since 2016. The campground is well-maintained and the staff are helpful.
The campground has two loops on opposite sides of the river, and includes some lean-to shelters. The only serviced sites are located on the South Loop. It should be noted that there is a narrow bridge that must be crossed to reach the South loop. This requires a sharp right-hand turn. They have imposed a restriction imposing a max length of 42ft. The dump station is also located in the South campground.

Both loops include a comfort station with free showers and dishwashing stations. The North campground has a covered picnic shelter.

A Cautionary Tale:
On my first trip to Winhall Brook, my Garmin took me past the road to the campground entrance and to the other side of the park. I ended up on a narrow lane—after dark, of course—and had to get permission to turn around in someone’s field. The women noted that in this had happened to other several times in the year she had been there. A friend had the same experience when he arrived the next day. He had a Garmin as well.
You should be entering the road to the campground from Hwy 100.

Cell service has been an issue in the past, but has recently improved.

Things to do:
Jakes Fish & Chips, Londonderry
Weston Village Store:
The Vermont Country Store, Weston:
Lessor Ceramics Hwy 100 on way to Weston
Gramma Millers Pies (much more than just pies!) also on Hwy 100
Ball Mountain Dam

TV problems?
I had a issue with my TV (I could not have travelled anywhere else, given the problem) and went to Colemans Auto Repair Hwy 30 &100 south of Winhall Brook. Junior was manning ghe service desk when I arrived. He identified the problem based on my description, ordered the parts (and arranged a ‘meet’ for one of the mechanics to get the parts), and had my vehicle repaired in less than 3 hours from the time I walked in the door. The price was far less than I expected.

Beautiful campground with awesome stream and hiking trails. Be FORWARDED! Do not try to go to south side across bridge with anything bigger than 36' 5th wheel. Took me 4 attempts and 3 spotters to get across with 40' 5th wheel. I've had a class A CDL for 35+ years.
We called 1st and where told it would not be a problem getting across. Decent size sites no privacy. 50 amp electric site
T mobile data 2.5 mbs down .3 up. No ATT data 4x4 mimo
