You'll enjoy beach combing, whale watching, and incredible sunsets on the long flat sandy beach where the Lost Creek meets the ocean. Gray Whales are noted for their 12,000-mile annual migration from the Arctic Ocean to Mexico in the winter and their return north in the spring. The Oregon coast produces lots of phytoplankton (small marine plants) which are eaten by zooplankton (small marine animals) including bottom dwelling amphipods and mysid shrimp - primary food of the Gray Whales. The Oregon Coast Trail passes down the wild stretch of beach where brown pelicans and gulls fly offshore and the crashing waves and salty wind beckon you to explore. Windsurf, swim, or bring a surfboard along. This park provides beach access for all your aquatic recreational needs. After your adventure you can eat your lunch and enjoy ocean views from the picnic area.
