The famed Colorado River flows right past this campground in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, providing an ever-flowing source of entertainment. Stroll along the banks and watch for bald eagles and other birds that nest on the campground's own island. Cast a line for trout - or cast yourself in an inner tube to float down one of two river channels. Some campsites even come with a riverfront view! Sparkling new amenities include a large two-story clubhouse, swimming pool and hot tub. With easy access to I-70, this KOA makes a great base for exploring western Colorado and the surrounding mountains through scenic drives, hikes and jeep tours. Soak in the soothing waters at Glenwood Springs or take the hour-long drive to Aspen, a silver mining boomtown with century-old buildings now occupied by restaurants, shops and outdoor outfitters. Pool: Memorial Weekend - Labor Day Weekend. Max pull thru: 90 feet.
I just wanted to share our experience here for one night. We arrived around 8pm but paid in advance to reserve a pull through RV spot over a month ago. When we arrived we were given a backup location?? If you drive an RV you know the importance of this. We didn't make a fuse about it but we did pay for a pull through and they didn't bother to even state they gave our spot away.
The bathrooms are decent as possible but smelled like mildew in showers.
The kids enjoyed a swim in the morning which they like to do before breakfast.
The reason for two stars is because checkout is at 11am and at 11:15am we have a man come by telling us it's 15mins after checkout??? This man clearly sees my husband unhooking, packing up and myself cleaning up so there was no need for this reminder.... but apparently he needed to remind us.
We didn't remind them we paid for a pull through and not a backup and they owe us a refund.
I would highly NOT recommend this KOA. Pass this KOA stop up and enjoy the many others available. They clearly aren't friendly and this was our first experience with a KOA location, not kind.
Very friendly staff, we stayed in one of their deluxe pull through sites and it was amazing! It is next to the freeway so there is noise but it wasn't terrible. Beautiful campsite right next to the river I would definitely stay here again!
We had a great experience at this site. They have a few big tepees, and the campsite is right off a little river stream. The bathrooms were A++ nice, too. My kids were happy with the playground. The facility was very clean. The biggest downfall was the proximity to the highway. We heard cars from the site, but it wasn't too bad. We would absolutely stay here again.
