Bassett Station Motel

The Bassett’s Station Motel is open year round.  It is located at the  intersection of  Scenic Byway 49 and Gold Lake Road, providing easy access to the Yuba River and the Lakes Basin Recreational Area. In the summer the Lakes Basin Recreational Area is a favorite location for hiking, four-wheeling, biking, fishing, boating, swimming and camping.  In winter, we have easy access for snowmobiling, snow shoeing,  and cross country skiing.  The Lakes Basin snowmobile staging area is right outside our front door, providing hundreds of miles of groomed trails.   Our comfortable rooms will be a welcome haven at  the end of the day. All motel rooms have satellite TV and are housekeeping units with completely furnished  kitchens to accommodate extended stays. The grounds include a lawn area, access to Howard Creek and easy access to the Yuba River across the street. Also, there is the convenience of the Bassett’s Station Café, Country Store, Gas and Propane service. Cafe, Motel, Country Store, Gas, Propane For over 125 years, since the days of the 49'er gold rush, Bassett's Station has been providing for the High Sierra travelers needs. Today's travelers will find a source of supplies for automobiles, beverages, gifts, groceries, hardware, ice, ice cream, lodging, and sporting goods. All supplies are delivered with good old-fashion country hospitality. The business at Bassetts has been primarily in three generations of  buildings, all located in the same basic area where Howard Creek joins  the Yuba river, in Sierra county, California. The original buildings were  erected in the late 1800's (pictured above).  Around 1930, the 2 story  structure below becomes a part of Bassett's Station as an inn. In the  early 1960's, as Highway 49 was expanded and Gold Lake Road was  extended, these buildings were removed  to provide highway right of  way. The business was then relocated just to the north, to the current building site.
