“since 1824!”
Little maple sirup production place that has been operating for more than a century. Since its birth in 1926, Route 66 has changed the lives of countless people who have decided to follow their dreams of traveling somewhere new and exciting. Stretching from Chicago to Santa Monica, Route 66 was the first continuous hard road to make travel from the Midwest to the West Coast a faster, easier, and more realistic possibility than ever before. Route 66 quickly earned the title of the Main Street of America because its bends and curves sought out rather than avoided the hearts of the towns through which it passed. Like many other businesses, Funks Grove Pure Maple Sirup grew to depend on the steady stream of customers that Route 66 brought to its door. Today, the sirup farm at Funks Grove remains a favorite stop among Route 66 travelers.
These folks have been making maple sirup the old-fashioned way for years and years. Satisfy your Buddy-the-Elf like maple sirup cravings here and get a chance to learn the rich history of maple sirup making in this area.
This place was closed when I drove by but it looked so cute from the outside! Plus, people I met on Route 66 all asked what I thought of it, cause it's a total Mother Road favorite.
Will definitely hit it up next time. :)
This was one of the highlights of our trip! It was so darling and informative. The gentleman who works there was telling my son how the sirup is made and even gave us a small sample to try! The atmosphere was nice, but I felt bad for the gentleman sitting all alone in the shack all day just waiting for a passer by to stumble upon his hidden gem!
February 26, 2020 unfortunately they were sold out and closed (not surprised, it isn’t really Route 66 tourist season. Route 66 is pretty cracked and bumpy, especially with bicycles on the car, not the best choice since the interstate parallels it.
A cute stop! The look is welcoming and the store, small and friendly. We bought some dried maple sugar, I had not seen before, even though I have visited other maple places in the US.
I'm Virginia Funk and plan on visiting this location in near future
Don't bother to stop here it's a little tiny room, and the proprietors barely looked up when I walked in.
Awesome little stop! Maple Sirup is great!!!
Small shop, but very friendly people and amazing maple syrup. Definitely a must see if it's on your way.
