“bringing the taste of Italy to Sheboygan”
Il Ritrovo opened in January of 2000. The success of its sister restaurant Trattoria Stefano located across the street and established in 1994 was one of the reasons for its creation. The need for a wood-fired oven pizzeria and retail shop became more and more apparent as customers frequently sought out the wonderful ingredients we use like fresh mozzarella, prosciutto, pasta, wine and more! In the fall of 1999, Stefano travelled to the Amalfi coast with family and staff members to eat true Neopolitan pizza. Travelling to Italy every years since 1994, Stefano always gets many ideas directly from the kitchens and dining rooms of Italy. This time he even got an experienced Pizzaiolo (pizza cook) to come and assist with the opening of Il Ritrovo and the training of the staff. Il Ritrovo became a member of the Verace Pizza Napoletana association as it meets all the requirements and proudly serves the true Neopolitan style pizza.
