“the world's largest candy store”
The Chocolate Kingdom is a realm that is inhabited by a 400-pound chocolate turtle, a 125-pound chocolate reindeer and 75-pound chocolate frog. Chocolate castles, a train, a village, and a Ferris Wheel which brings this whimsical land to life. Guests come from all over the world to see the unique display of solid-chocolate creations and sample free chocolate. The original family store was started in 1903 by George Daffin in Woodsfield, Ohio. It was there that the Daffin legend was created through his eyes. After World War I George's son, Alec, moved the business to New Philadelphia, Ohio. After Alec Daffin's death in 1936 the store moved to Canton, Ohio, where his son, Paul Daffin, took over the operations of the store with the help of his mother Georgia Daffin. When the call came Pete served in the U.S. Army World War II in Italy and other parts of the European theater. Shortly after returning from the war Pete decided to build his own store in Sharon. Backed with finesse in merchandising and a will to succeed the small downtown store was born in 1947. The shop also served as a factory for creating the delectable candy delights that made the Daffin's name famous. It was Pete Daffin, with the constant help of his wife, Jean, who launched the Daffin Candies name to a new level. With the help of a friend they created their now famous Peter Rabbit - a solid chocolate Rabbit sold during the Easter season. Peter Rabbit was an immediate, mouth-watering hit with the public. As demand for Daffin's candy soared, the couple moved their location to a bigger 20,000 square-foot store in Sharon. At the same time they built a new 30,000 square-foot candy factory - yes, an honest to goodness candy factory. Tours are available at the factory in the neighboring town of Farrell. Since Sharon and Farrell sit close to Interstate 80 and 79 Daffin's store and factory have become must stops for travelers.

Secondly, the chocolate storefront is awesome. True that is has cards and souvenirs like Hallmark stores but the chocolate is all homemade an beyond delicious. There is also a wall full of penny candy and other classic candies. The shop is wonderful.
Firstly, the chocolate kingdom seems like an afterthought. The sculptures are in a very small back room. I assumed it would be a large display that could be viewed from 360degrees. Not so! It is all so closely staged and only viewed from one angle. Very impressive sculptures but could be displayed properly.
The “chocolate kingdom” is the back room of a large hallmark store that also includes a long counter of candies/fudge. We arrived at almost closing time and stayed 10 minutes. Grabbed some photos of the chocolate sculptures
It was worth a quick stop. Great chocolate and who wouldn’t want to see and smell GIANT creations from chocolate.
Huge range of hard and chocolate candies. Worth the detour.
It is a candy store, a large one. Their chocolate is not that great, but is a nice place to stop by if you are in the area
Very nice store and sensational chocolate sculptures in the back. Tons of gifts and chocolate to choose from. Nice and clean!
Nice place to see if looking for an interesting and yummy break on a road trip. The chocolates were pretty delicious. I enjoyed the dark chocolate covered pretzels and caramel apple chocolates the best.
The chocolate statues were cute, but that room smelt a little funny. Not sure how to describe it. I'd agree with those that said it has too much room dedicated to cards and gifts to really be the largest chocolate store, but fun nonetheless.
This chocolate is up there as my Top 2 of the Best Chocolate in the US - MUCH better than Godiva or Ghirardelli. Second only to Sarris of Cannonsburg, PA (just south or Pittsburgh). My favorite = the peanut clusters - YUM!
