“A teeny-tiny pastry shop”
Lines formed at Crumble & Flake’s door before it opened for a while, its popular pastries disappearing before most customers even showed up. The lines have let up (some), but if you want any of this doughy goodness, it’s recommended that you still show up really early — even then it may be too late. If they sell out before 3pm, Crumble & Flake will close early. The flaky-on-the-outside, soft-on-the-inside cinnamon rolls and croissants, in particular, are worth rising in the wee hours of the morning to taste. Rip off a piece of the croissant and you’ll see why: Saturated with butter, the tender pastry melts on your tongue. If you’ve missed these morning treats, fear not. The cream puffs are filled to order and the macaroons feature rotating flavors from dark chocolate to raspberry to black currant for a tasty surprise.
