“very quirky photo op!”
A very weird, large concrete statue of a prairie dog.
The prairie dogs were a treat. I had one climb my pants leg! Well worth a stop. HOWEVER, the location on the Roadtrippers map is incorrect, and if you try to navigate to it, you'll end up in a field somewhere. The correct location is shown here:
http://www.badlandsranchstore.com/Directions.htm 1.35 mi south of I-90 exit 131 on route 240.
While the large statue of the prairie dog is silly, most of these oversized statues are. Still worth a photo opp. And the real gem of this stop are the actual prairie dogs. Darn cute. You can walk among them. Gift shop was the first gift shop that we didn't think every single item was way overpriced. We picked up all out postcards, pins and water from this stop.
This is not just a prairie dog statue. I’m so glad I read the description/reviews on this one and read about the prairie dogs. This was honestly one of the most amazing things I’ve ever done. I’ve had a private monkey encounter/feeding and THIS was a close second on how fun and amazing it was to feed the prairie dogs. Be careful though as some were more interested in taking nibbles on my fingers rather than eating the peanuts. One of them even untied my shoe and started chewing on my shoe lace 😅
My kids loved this stop! Super Fun to feed the Prairie Dogs.
Words can't express how much fun this was! We all enjoyed interacting with these little guys. They were quirky and funny and VERY hungry. So well worth the visit.
If you have kids - Totally worth the stop! They were thrilled! Thanks to this app I knew about this place!
A fun quick stop. The Prarie dogs sing and chirp to you. If you stop in the store it costs $1 for a bag of peanuts to feed them.
The colony of prairie dogs were a great treat and made for some fun photos and laughter with the kids
So much fun to see the Prairie Dogs! You can feed them and spend as much time as you like enjoying watching them! Great stop!
Best surprise stop so far in our trip. I loved just watching the prairie dogs running around. Great stop right before or after badlands.
