“a one-of-a-kind store”
Unclaimed Baggage is a one-of-a-kind store snuggled in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains and bordered by the 70,000 acre Lake Guntersville. Founded in 1970 by Doyle and Sue Owens as a part-time business, it soon became a full-time venture. In 1978, the Owens incorporated the company and watched it prosper as one of the great 'hidden' bargain centers for savvy shoppers. A whopping 99.5% of domestic airlines’ checked bags are picked up by their owners at the baggage carousel. Roughly ½ of 1% don’t arrive with the passengers. Five days later, an impressive 95% of those delayed bags find their way home. That’s a great track record considering the 100’s of millions of flights and passengers that criss-cross the country and the globe every day. Our sprawling 40,000 square foot store has many departments for you to explore for incredible bargains and unexpected treasures. You can wander the entire store or use the map to make a beeline for the specific products you want.
if you go expecting a huge thrift store filled with quirky stuff you will be very disappointed. that said, this place isn't bad. it is like a combination of a discount store like Ross, Marshalls or TJ Maxx mixed with an Ikea. Not really a thrift store like goodwill/ salvation army etc. Many/ most of the clothes are brand new and most are about $15-20 each but I saw some as low as $6 and some close to $100 depending on the brand etc. they also have some sporting goods, musical instruments, digital cameras and other stuff that people might bring on vacation- but mostly it is clothes.
Great place to purchase items for way less than you would normally pay.
Not worth the drive. Over priced junk. Thought it would be something different given the name. Unless people are not claiming junk bikes and other things that would not be on a plane the name is misleading
Tourist trap! Disorganized, poor used quality, very expensive for pre owned items. Great place if you want to buy a unclaimed baggage souvenir tshirt
