“Hike and Bird Watch in Santa Rosa!”
There are 3 campgrounds: - Juniper Park Camping Area, this entry but doesn't call it Juniper Park, 26 total, 2 Electric/Water (one is host), pets. - Rocky Point Camping Area, Loop A has 23 Electric/Water (11 50A, 12 30A), Loop B has 27 no Electric or water. - Los Tanos Primitive Camping Area, Equestrian, Tents only, hike in (short distance), pets.
Nice state park. We just stopped for a night for a place to stay on our road trip. Camping price was cheap and fair, no frills or thrills. Good bathroom, nice playground for kids.
The lake was beautiful and stars at night showed like you wouldn't believe. Gets really windy so make sure you can stake down your tent properly. Gusts reach 40 mph regularly.
The staff was friendly, with a camp host that provided us information about the numerous hiking trails. The bathrooms were clean and heated.
Santa rosa made us fall in love with the southwest and we definitely plan to return.
Beautiful! Stars at night were beautiful and bright. Campsite was quiet and nice with lots of room between other campers offering peacefulness and privacy. Short trees (Pinon...I think) with view of lake. Electrical hookup was in good shape. Even though no water hookup it was very close by. The campsite host was so pleasant and knowledgeable. When he did his walkabout, we spent about 5 min talking to him and enjoyed the conversation. Safe and peaceful place.
This park was well taken care of. I stayed in the campground with electricity but no water. There were some sites with both. Good roads for biking and a few trails for hiking. Some great views of lake. Site was not very level. I would go back.
This is a super isolated campground. Rates are very low ($14 per night), but not at all ideal for tent campers. Bathrooms were old, but clean and usable.
This came up in a search for places to hike. The 'trails' are actually vehicular tracks, but they're only for authorised vehicles, so it was still easy to be 1/1 with nature. Looks like a nice place to camp.
