“Loaded Potato Skins & Guinness”
In 1984, award-winning chef and author, Geraldine Gilliland, established her first restaurant on Main Street in Santa Monica, “Gilliland’s Café”. In 1991, she opened Lula Cocina Mexicana across the street and in 1993, bought Merlin McFly’s (four doors down from Lula) and opened Jake & Annie’s American Irish Café. In 2001, in honour of her late step-father, she packed up the artifacts in his Pub in Ireland and arranged for the entire bar to be painstakingly dismantled and shipped through the Panama Canal to Santa Monica. A crew of Irish craftsmen meticulously reconstructed it and on St. Patrick’s Day, 2002, Jake & Annie’s was reborn as Finn McCool’s Irish Pub – an authentic Irish Pub right at the beach in the heart of sunny California. The Irish Herald says, “the moment you walk through the doors of Finn McCool’s Irish Pub in SantaMonica, you hear the racing clip of fresh Irish accents from [the] bar and wait staff [who are] bantering with each other as they serve an assortment of Irish food and beverages to satisfied customers smitten by the ambiance of genuine Irish charm”.Music plays a key role amongst the Irish and LA Magazine rated the Sunday Night Traditional Irish Music as the “Best Irish Music in Los Angeles”.
