The hard dark basalt of Diablo Canyon is similar to Devil’s Tower in Wyoming and offers some of the best multi-pitch climbing in New Mexico. More than 100 climbing routes, rated from 5.8 to 5.13, make it one of the most popular climbing areas in New Mexico.

Facilities include a defined trailhead and parking area. There is no water or restrooms.
Day use and camping are free of fees at Diablo Canyon. Primitive camping includes four walk-in tent sites and four car camping sites. These sites include defined parking areas and a fire ring.
A large open area is available for group camping and picnicking.
The area does not have water, toilets or trash receptacles. Leave no Trace and Pack it in, pack it out.
This was a beautiful and eerie place to hike. Just bring lots of water and snacks you are pretty remote
