“Camping / RV in Sanderson, FL”
The elevation is 130 ft. The campground, stretching along the settled north shore of Ocean Pond, offers campers three different styles of camping, each in a different environment. To the right of the campground's entrance is an open area dotted with Spanish Moss-draped towering Longleaf pine and a few Live oaks. Each site in the loop has an electric and water hookup and view of Ocean Pond. Some of the sites are on the water and campers can moor their boats at their site. The grass understory is manicured giving this area a near RV resort feel. To the left of the entrance are the other two environments. At the far end of the interior road is a loop in a dense forest with sites tucked in among an assortment of native trees, including Longleaf pine. Vines such as wild grape provide excellent privacy. The dirt interior road as well as the irregular shaped parking aprons, enhance the primitive feel of these campsites. The only tent pads in the campground are in this "primitive" environment. Between the two loops, campsites with only water hookups stretch along Ocean Pond's shoreline. These sites are spacious with groomed grass understory and native vegetation providing good privacy between sites. The towering Longleaf pine provide good shade. Additional features of this campground are a basketball half-court, coin operated washing machine and driers, bird watching opportunities (particularly for Snow egrets and herons), lantern poles and excellent cell phone reception. Possible day trips from the campground are Big Gum Swamp Wilderness; the Olustee Depot museum; Olustee Beach; historic Lake City, and a must for Civil War buffs; and the Olustee Battlefield Historic State Park. The Battle of Olustee was the only major Civil War battle in Florida and once a year, in February, the battle is reenacted. In the Fall there is a smaller gathering called the Civil War Expo. See www.Battle of Olustee.org for details and exact dates. This is bear country, practise safe food storage techniques. It is also alligator country; practice caution around water especially with small dogs.

This is used a lot by locals and is very hard to get into as they seem to hold sites for each other. Nice rest rooms and showers keep clean by volunteers, however management doesn't keep up on maintence - things broke 3 years ago are still broke. Rate is senior pass rate.

We stayed here at the end of November the weather was beautiful and the amenities Were great. The park is divided into three sections. There are about 12 sites that are electric and water hook up. These were $12 using the senior pass. These were located on ocean pond and were nicely spaced so it felt like plenty of privacy. To the left there were water hook up only sites. Again these were nicely spaced and plenty of solar opportunities. If you continue up the driveway there were primitive sites set among gorgeous Palms. Very shaded area so solar opportunities would be difficult. The primitive area is not really designed for larger rigs Other than the first couple of sites. The campground has beautiful hot showers and a very efficient laundry with just one washer and dryer. These are payable with a credit card which we found very helpful. Overall this was a wonderful campground for the price. Five star rating

We got here early, but alas, not early enough to get electric. Looks like the electric sites stay full all winter long. This is a clean, nice park, with easy back in sites for any size rig.
Showers and bathrooms look okay.
Everyone has a bike except me. :(
Nobody at the gate, just grab an envelope and fill it out when you get to your site.
People seem to be out and about and friendly but sites are spread out so you don't feel like you have no privacy.
The cellular signal is stellar!!

Nice and quiet place by the lake. Very spacious spots within the forest. The access is very good and the services acceptable and clean.
Good starting point for excursions and enjoy the lake with kids.

Came in at 10:00am on a Monday in late March and was stopped on the road twice on my way in by other campers. They both wanted to tell me that there was only one open electric spot and I was incredibly lucky to get it. OK, let me temper that a little by saying that there were several primitive spots that were still available, but they were taken pretty quickly.
There is a good reason that people try so hard to get a spot. Beautiful location, peaceful, large sites, 50 amp electric with water (if you can get it) at an incredible price (see pic of rate sign). I believe the main reason it’s so hard to get in is that the stay limit is a whopping 30 days! Many of the people I met had been there for weeks.

We arrived mid morning on a Thursday and there were a few electric sites and a few water sites available. Site 46 (water only) was large and private though not near the lake or washrooms. Appreciated the convenient washer and dryer (credit card operated) and the large shower stalls available. Nice paved roads for biking. Hiking trails go through the park (bring boots as it’s swampy!) Bug spray a must— cannot imagine what mosquitoes must be like in spring and summer! All kinds of folks camp here. There’s 3 sections for 3 types of camping (electric/water/dry). Nice dump station. Several dumpsters also. Cell service for both Verizon and t-mobile was fantastic at all times, making work easy peazy.
By the time we left, all sites were full. Can’t beat the price, especially wit America the Beautiful discount.

The road in is all paved. There are three areas: Electric and water hookup = $30/night, $20 for senior pass; water only= $20, $10 with senior pass; primitive= $12, $6 with senior pass. The sites in the electric loop are the least private and the closest together. Many sites in all areas have a partial view of the lake. There is a swimming beach and a small playground as well as picnic pavilion in the middle of the “water only” area. There are 2 bathhouses: on in the electric loop and one in the water neighborhood. The primitive area had a restroom only.
It was extremely quiet after dark...even on New Years Eve! During the day there were a large number of barking dogs. By evening the campground was full.
Would stay again if in the area because of the quiet, good cell service, and low prices.

Don’t waste you time driving here. As of 1/2/21 the campsite is closed off. There is a dump station that you can access for $5 but the drive is long and not worth it to me.

This Campground just opened on March 31st at 50% capacity. We stayed at a site with water and paid $10 a night with the senior pass. Next time we will stay at the primitive sites for $12 - $6 with the senior pass. The primitive area has a bathroom and water nearby, plus the sites are more widely spaced. There are also a number of sites with full hookup. The campground hosts were great. Overall a good experience.
