“A hidden gem in San Francisco”
Affectionately known as one of San Francisco’s hidden gems, Gitane’s interior exhibits the sexy playfulness of a 1930’s cabaret, the swagger of Serge Gainsbourg, and the audacious spirit of the 70’s disco era. Chef Alicia Jenish and Chef de Cuisine Michael Zito serve an eclectic menu spanning Spain, Morocco, and France with the spirit of a traveling gypsy for gastronomic inspiration. Using California influence from local farms and purveyors, Chef Jenish rotates whole animal butchery and local favorites seasonally. Gitane is also home to a unique and artisanal cocktails, one of the largest selections of sherry in the Bay Area, and features an exciting collection of Spanish wines. The dining experience at Gitane is meant to be enjoyed amongst friends, family, and colleagues, highlighting one of the most time-honored Spanish traditions of eating well, with laughter and conversation. Our twenty-four foot bar with many hand crafted spirits is frequented by locals and tourists alike, the upstairs dining room a haven for richly intoxicating dining experiences, and look to our unique patio area for laughter, drinks, and special gypsy bites from the chef during our Patio Happy Hour, starting at 5pm.
